Blue Bloods is coming to an end. The beloved police drama wraps up on December 13, after a staggering 14 seasons on the air. There's been a lot of speculation about what will occur in the series finale, and the cast and crew have done an excellent job of keeping the spoilers at a minimum.

That said, Blue Bloods star Bridget Moynahan did shed light on one aspect of the finale that has taken some fans by surprise. There's a general belief that the last episode of a show will tie up all the loose ends and ensure that the fans are satisfied. Well, Blue Bloods isn't going to reach such a neat end.

Bridget Moynahan confirmed there are unresolved arcs

No Good Deed
“No Good Deed” – Danny and his nephew Joe Hill (Will Hochman) investigate the homicide of a delivery driver who may have been connected to an illegal narcotics ring in the city. Also, Eddie is determined to save the job of a probationary police officer who may be fired for responding to a crime; Frank faces a hard decision when he discovers Gormley is non-compliant with NYPD residency requirements; and Erin clashes with her boss, D.A. Crawford, when a seemingly rehabilated criminal from an old /

Moynahan told TV Line that the series finale will actually leave several questions unresolved. This extends to pieces of information about the Reagan family, as well as the future of the show's primary characters.

"I think that fans will feel somewhat satisfied," the actress noted. "But then you’re going to want more. There are these nuggets where people are going to be like, 'Yes!!!’ And then the show’s over. It’s going to be bittersweet in some ways."

The decision to leave story beats unresolved may seem like an odd one on the part of the writers, but it makes sense given the desire to see Blue Bloods continue on in some form. There has been tireless efforts on the part of fans to bring the show back for another season, or see the Reagan family had new life in the form of a spinoff.

There are rumors of a Blue Bloods spinoff

CBS hasn't budged on the notion of a season 15, but there has reportedly been talks of a spinoff. The network's co-CEO, Brian Robbins, voiced a desire to continue the Blue Bloods name in the future, and actors like Donnie Wahlberg have expressed interest in returning, provided the spinoff maintains the same themes and morals.

Unfortunately, Moynahan and Wahlberg's desire to see the Reagan family continue are unlikely at this point in time. Abigail Hawk, another Blue Bloods alum, told Hello Magazine that the spinoff will likely take place in Los Angeles, and focus on entirely different characters.

This leaves Blue Bloods fans in a difficult place. Granted, lack of resolution can be just as compelling, if not more, than resolution sometimes, but it all depends on execution. Hopefully the police drama sticks the landing.
