Blue Bloods went out on a high note. The characters got their sendoffs, they made their peace, and one of them is even getting a spinoff where they head to Boston. It's best case scenario for fans that were understandably annoyed by the fact that CBS canceled the show.

Unfortunately, the decision to launch a spinoff has allegedly created tension between two of Blue Bloods' biggest stars: Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg. The two men had been extremely close for the duration of Blue Bloods' run, to the point where Wahlberg often referred to Selleck as his "dad," but the gloves are reportedly off, and it's because of the franchise's future.

No Good Deed
“No Good Deed” – Danny and his nephew Joe Hill (Will Hochman) investigate the homicide of a delivery driver who may have been connected to an illegal narcotics ring in the city. Also, Eddie is determined to save the job of a probationary police officer who may be fired for responding to a crime; Frank faces a hard decision when he discovers Gormley is non-compliant with NYPD residency requirements; and Erin clashes with her boss, D.A. Crawford, when a seemingly rehabilated criminal from an old

A source close to Selleck claimed the actor is frustrated by the fact that CBS decided to green light a spinoff with Wahlberg instead of himself. The actor repeatedly voiced his desire to reprise his Bloods character in a new show, and CBS reportedly considered running with this idea before changing their minds and going with Wahlberg.

"Tom considered himself this father figure to Donnie and helped him with his acting skills, and now he's found out everything going on behind his back," the source alleged to Radar Online. "It's a huge burn. He feels a sense of betrayal and is furious over the news."

The source claims that Selleck was blindsided by the news, and feels that CBS decided to scrap his character in an effort to cut down on costs. The last few seasons of Blue Bloods with hampered by an effort to trim the budget, to the point where the main cast allegedly took a pay cut. The source thinks that CBS went with Wahlberg for many reasons, but one may have been inexpensiveness.

End of Tour
"End of Tour" -- It’s all hands on deck for the Reagan family, as they race to stop deadly mayhem in the city when the gangs of New York unite together to demand amnesty for the release of their imprisoned members and those awaiting trial, in the historic series finale episode of BLUE BLOODS, Friday, Dec. 13 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential

"Friends are saying he had no clue this was even in discussion," they added. "He's putting on a brave face, but make no mistake – he's still hoping for word that he'll be needed on this new show." The one major sticking point that Selleck has allegedly noted behind closed doors is not salary based, but TV show based. He believes a character like Wahlberg's Danny Reagan would never leave family behind and move from New York to Boston.

"The Reagans never left New York," the source claimed. "Now Danny's just up and moving to Boston? Selleck is furious it's like throwing the rest of the cast away, including the star." He also claimed that Selleck suspects the spinoff series is more of a "reboot" and "isn't fooled" by the network's plan.

The anonymity of these sources should always be taken with a grain of salt, but it does make sense that such a tight knit cast would feel broken apart by CBS' decision to pluck one character and base a brand new show around him. We will see how things fare when Boston Bloods eventually debuts.
