Chicago Fire breakup scene could be great news for this Chicago Med character

Could it be that Frost moves on to someone else after his breakup with Novak?

Love triangles and relationships between characters of different One Chicago shows are not a new concept within the franchise. A love triangle involving characters from two different shows is not new, but it is still captivating. Particularly when those characters are rather new and fresh within the One Chicago circle.

When Naomi Howard rejected Frost’s advances on Chicago Med but later regretted her decision, fans knew that chaos would follow. This became even more obvious when Frost and Novak began to hook up. Naomi quickly realized she had made a mistake, but knew it was too late to try anything, being the polite and respectful character she has been from the beginning.

The Novak and Frost relationship quickly became a fan-favorite on both sides of the fandom, as it seemed like a fun, cheeky inter-show pairing. They were going on cute dates to the fair, eating takeout at Novak’s, and making out in totally random places at Gaffney Chicago Medical Center. It truly seemed one of the most promising relationships we have seen in a while.

However, everything took a turn when Frost got in it way deeper than Novak. It became obvious the moment Frost started opening up about his parents and what seeing them had done to him. He sat on Novak’s couch and poured his heart to her, but when he asked for the same in return, she simply diverted the conversation by taking her shirt off and sitting on his lap. While Frost wanted to advance in the intimate aspects of their bond that didn’t involve sex, Novak wasn’t interested (or ready) to cross that line.

For fans who have been paying attention to Novak’s storyline from the beginning, it was no surprise that she wasn’t willing to commit further than hooking up. It took a lot of convincing from Violet’s end to get Novak to even commit to Firehouse 51. Her behavior and comments about relationships in general are a clear giveaway that she has a hard time committing. It would be interesting if Chicago Fire used this opportunity to dig deeper into what the real issue is behind this.

It was on Chicago Fire season 14, episode 12 that this fear to commit and the need to keep things casual put an end to what was only just beginning between Frost and Novak. While Novak wanted to keep it casual and continue to see him, Frost wanted to move their relationship to the next level because he really liked her. Because it seemed like she didn’t see a future with him beyond hookups, Frost chose to put an end to it.

Now, if you are one of the fans who was actually rooting for Naomi and Frost to end up together, this might be the perfect opportunity. Naomi wouldn’t have tried anything with Frost while he was still hooking up with Novak because that truly isn’t the kind of character she is. But could it be that now she takes a chance? Could it be that seeing them “break up” pushes her to follow her heart instead of her brain?

Frost is clearly looking for someone who can do both the physical and the emotional connection in a relationship, and Naomi is the perfect candidate for this. She is sweet, gentle, and caring, and seems to be really into Frost. However, we wonder if Frost would be ready to take a step in that direction with someone other than Novak so soon after their breakup.
