With May nearly upon us, the 2024-25 broadcast season is winding down, and finale season has arrived with many of our favorite shows nearing their end. This includes NBC’s One Chicago dramas, with only a few episodes before Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD conclude their seasons and head into summer hiatus.
Ahead of the three shows’ final episodes of the season, it appears we’ve got one more break coming our way, but luckily, this won’t be a long break!
As confirmed by NBC’s official schedule, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD will not be airing a new episode on Wednesday, April 30, with the One Chicago shows going into rerun mode for the final Wednesday of April. The shows will then return following their one-week break with fresh episodes planned for Wednesday, May 7
The good news is that when the shows do return on May 7, it’ll begin a stretch of new episodes with the final three episodes of the season airing uninterrupted, leading up to the season finales of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD on May 21. That’s right, there are somehow only three episodes left before the One Chicago shows come to an end! While we’re not ready for the seasons to end, it is nice to know that after this final break, the remaining episodes of the shows will air without interruption.
There’s no telling what the final episode of the current seasons will bring about, but the One Chicago shows have never been ones to stray away from major cliffhangers in their season finales. We fully expect Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD to close out their seasons with some unexpected moments that are sure to keep fans talking throughout the summer and into the fall. And before you ask, no the shows have not yet been officially renewed but we truly don’t see a world in which NBC doesn’t renew the three One Chicago shows.
Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD remain three of NBC’s most-watched shows and all signs point towards NBC handing out a renewal to all three shows. The biggest question is honestly who could be coming back for the next seasons with Chicago Fire already confirmed to be losing at least two beloved characters and a hint that other Wolf Entertainment shows could also see cast departures after the current seasons.
We’ll see how things play out both on the shows and behind the scenes as Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD come to a close, and we look forward to seeing how the seasons wrap up when the One Chicago shows return on May 7 with the first of their final three episodes!
