Wednesday has finally arrived, but One Chicago fans won’t be getting a night of new episodes on March 25. Unfortunately, NBC is sending Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD into reruns tonight with a wave of encore episodes coming rather than new episodes.
Interestingly, there is no known reason why NBC is not airing new episodes tonight. What seems to have happened is that we’ve reached the point in the season when the network simply has to work in some reruns to help space out the remaining episodes of the season. With Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD signing off the air in late May, we knew there would be a few weeks of reruns ahead, and the first night of One Chicago reruns just happened to come up sooner than expected.
The good news is that although there will not be any new episodes of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD airing on March 25, NBC will at least be airing reruns. The even better news? This isn’t going to be a multi-week break, as all three One Chicago shows will be back with new episodes as April rolls around!
Now for those looking to enjoy One Chicago reruns on March 25, let’s take a look at what NBC has planned.
For this latest round of reruns, NBC will be throwing it back to the start of the season by rebroadcasting the second episode of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD’s current season.
The night will kick off with Chicago Med season 11, episode 2, “A Game of Inches,” which welcomed back Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead. The episode was a highlight of the season and kicked off a two-part guest spot for both Gehlfuss and Torrey DeVitto, who made a surprise appearance in the closing moments of the episode. The episode also saw Ripley and Dean butting heads after the Hannah baby daddy reveal, which is going to be fun to revisit given how far the trio has come since.
Next on Chicago Fire season 14, episode 2, “Primary Search,” we’ll revisit the episode that began to pull back the layers on 51’s newest recruit, Sal Vasquez. At the time, we didn’t quite know what to expect from Vasquez, but we’d quickly come to love him—which is why we’re so worried about the potential of having to say goodbye to him already.
Closing out the night, NBC will air a rerun of Chicago PD season 13, episode 2, “Open Wounds.” The episode gave Torres the chance to step into the spotlight as the Intelligence Unit raced against time to find a man from his neighborhood who was violently abducted.
