We’ve got some bad news for the One Chicago fans out there. While NBC was originally slated to air new episodes of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD this Wednesday night, the network has been forced to unexpectedly preempt the shows and send them on a brief hiatus for the week.

That’s right, there will be no new episodes of Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD airing on Wednesday, Jan. 15 as originally scheduled with NBC forced to pull the planned new episodes from the lineup to make room in its primetime schedule for President Joe Biden’s farewell address. Here’s what fans need to know.

President Biden has announced that he will give his farewell speech on Wednesday night ahead of the United States Presidential Inauguration of Donald Trump on Jan. 20. The farewell address is set to be broadcast on Wednesday night at the top of the primetime schedule at 8 p.m. ET. The speech is set to air until 8:15 p.m., at which time NBC will cut into a rerun of Chicago Med with NBC airing the third episode of the show's current season, "Trust Fall."

At 9 p.m., NBC will air a Chicago Fire rerun followed by a Chicago PD rerun to close out the night in the 10 p.m. timeslot on the network. Similar to the plan for Chicago Med, the plan is to air reruns of the third episodes of the current seasons of both Chicago Fire and PD.

With the One Chicago shows pulled from the schedule this week, the shows will be taking an unexpected hiatus but the good news is that they will return with new episodes on Jan. 22 as confirmed via the official One Chicago Twitter.

While it was unclear at first, NBC has since confirmed the scheduling change will not impact the planned One Chicago crossover event which will still air on Jan. 29 as originally planned. This seems to suggest NBC might have been planning on airing reruns on Jan. 22 which means a break was always in the cards this month, it's just coming earlier than expected due to the preemptions impacting the Jan. 15 episodes.

To recap, here's what the rest of January will look like for One Chicago following the unexpected scheduling change made by NBC to accommodate coverage of President Biden's farewell address:
