December is nearing the halfway point, and the One Chicago shows have officially been off the air for a month now.

Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, and Chicago Med signed off for the fall with their final episodes of 2025 on November 12, 2025. The decision came as a surprise to fans, who are used to the shows staying on air until late November or early December. Instead, NBC kicked off the fall break early this year in order to make room for holiday programming, which has been airing every Wednesday night since the fall finales and will continue to air through December.

While the shows will remain off the air until January 7, 2026, the good news is that this gives fans plenty of time to catch up before new episodes begin.

The One Chicago shows return on January 7, 2026

Following their extended breaks, Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD will return on January 7, 2026, with their winter premieres.

Upon their returns in the new year, fans should be in for a stretch of new episodes across the month of January. It’s expected that NBC will air new episodes weekly in January without any interruption before the shows head into another break come February.

The Winter Olympics begin on February 6 and will run through February 22, 2026. NBC remains the broadcast home to the Olympics and will be bringing fans exclusive content throughout the games. With Olympic coverage coming in February, there is a good chance that NBC will send the One Chicago shows into a break after the final Wednesday of the January and keep the shows off the air until the final week of February.

We’ll get a better idea of NBC’s schedule plans in the new year, but for now we know that Chicago Fire, Chicago Med, and Chicago PD will be back on January 7 for what should be a stretch of new episodes!
