The One Chicago shows will be returning from their latest break on April 1, but their returns have been met with an unexpected scheduling change.

After taking the last week off, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD return with fresh episodes on April 1, but the night’s schedule is going to look a little different than expected. It was announced late on March 31 that President Donald Trump will be going live at 9 p.m. ET on April 1 to deliver an address about the war in Iran.

As it is always the case when a sitting president goes live to address the nation, the major broadcast networks will all cover the address, which is slated to run for approximately 20 minutes and will create some changes to NBC’s schedule this evening, which will impact two of the night's One Chicago shows.

Yes, Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD are new tonight, April 1

First, let’s clear up a major area of confusion caused by some misreporting on social media. All three One Chicago shows will still be airing new episodes on April 1.

NBC has not pulled the episodes due to President Trump’s speech and will be bringing fans the originally planned episodes tonight. What is changing about the schedule is when the episodes will be airing—well, with the exception of Chicago Med

Chicago Med will air at its usual time with tonight’s new episode beginning at 8 p.m. ET. It’s Chicago Fire and Chicago PD that will feel the real impact of President Trump’s address.

NBC has announced it will be breaking into its regularly scheduled programming at 9 p.m. ET to bring viewers coverage of President Trump’s address. It will then bring viewers uninterrupted coverage of the address before returning to the night’s regularly scheduled programming. With the address expected to take 20 minutes, Chicago Fire will start roughly around 9:20 p.m. ET this evening, while Chicago PD will start around 10:20 p.m. ET.

Now, it’s important to note these are rough estimated times. There is always a chance that the shows will not begin at those exact times should President Trump’s address run long, which is always a possibility. It’s also important to note that this will only impact viewers on the East Coast. One Chicago fans on the West Coast will not see the schedule impacted, as President Trump’s address will be aired at 6 p.m. PT, allowing fans to watch the One Chicago shows in the evening without any delays.

It’s going to be a long night for fans on the East Coast, but the One Chicago shows are certainly worth it! We’re looking forward to seeing what the new episodes of Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD bring and will be covering the new episodes right here as they air live!
