Last week on Chicago Fire, Firehouse 51 was turned upside down when the CFD decided to fire Chief Pascal for conduct unbecoming after he disobeyed a direct order from a federal official in the One Chicago crossover event. After the news came down, Pascal used his final shift within the CFD to get things in order and pass along a few final words of encouragement to the leaders at the firehouse.

This week, the fallout of Pascal’s firing will likely begin as 51 settles into its new normal with its first shift since Pascal’s exit. Interestingly, this fallout is not touched on in the official synopsis for Chicago Fire season 14, episode 15, “Do Not Resuscitate.” Instead, the synopsis centers around smaller side stories which will involve the various characters at 51:

"A car crash puzzles Kidd and Vasquez. Herrmann gets his chance in the spotlight. Violet and Novak deal with a moral dilemma."

Of the three storylines, we know the least about Herrmann’s chance in the spotlight, as there is no further context provided in the week’s photos or promo that hints at what this moment will be. Given the use of chance in the spotlight, we have to wonder if perhaps Herrmann might be recognized for something done on the job. What that could be will be exciting to find out.

As for the other key storylines teased, the photos and promo for the week provide better context on what’s to come!

Do Not Resuscitate photos

We know that Kidd and Vasquez will be puzzled by a car crash, and the photos from Chicago Fire season 14, episode 15 seem to give us a glimpse into this crash. In a number of stills, we see Kidd, Vasquez, and Herrmann in action working the scene, which seems to involve a car that has crashed into recently poured cement.

Given that there is only one car seen in the photos, perhaps the thing that will leave Kidd and Vasquez puzzled is how the car ended up in the cement.

Elsewhere in the episode, we get a glimpse at several members of 51 running drills in the firehouse. This includes Herrmann, Ballard, and Vasquez. There is no context to the scene the photos are pulled from, but perhaps this will come into play with Herrmann's moment in the spotlight storyline.

The final batch of photos from the episode teases a visit from Novak's sister, Heidi, who drops by the firehouse to see her sister. Meanwhile, in a second photo, we see Novak and Heidi relaxing on the couch in Novak's apartment, watching a video together on her phone. After Novak's near-death experience in the crossover, it seems the sisters will continue to work on mending their relationship, and we're excited to see more of Novak's family dynamics as the season continues.

Chicago Fire season 14, episode 15 promo - Do Not Resuscitate

It's going to be a big week for Novak and Violet. After being sidelined in the previous episode, the pair are back and will have some big storylines in episode 15. Not only will we see more of Novak's personal backstory with the return of her sister, but we're going to see Novak and Violet face a major moral dilemma during their shift.

As the promo teases, the pair respond to the home of an elderly man and quickly begin performing life-saving measures to try to save the man's life. All seems to be going smoothly until another woman enters the room and yells for the duo to stop as she notes that her father has a DNR. It seems the sister who called 911 left this piece of information out when calling the paramedics, putting Violet and Novak in a tough spot.

"What do we do?" Novak asks as the man flatlines before the promo cuts away, hinting that the duo will have a difficult decision to make.

Don't miss a new Chicago Fire, Wednesday, March 18, at 9/8c on NBC!
