We're rapidly approaching the Chicago Fire season 14 finale, and there are still many loose ends left to tie together. Between Chief Hopkins singling out Severide and various interpersonal dramas creating tension among the team, we have a lot on the burners for the final episodes of the season. And that includes Violet and Novak navigating their feelings for Vasquez.

The best friends and paramedic partners will find their relationship tested on all accounts in the remaining episodes of Chicago Fire season 14, especially after their recent dust-up over their shared interest in Vasquez. After Novak revealed to Violet that she's no longer seeing Dr. Frost, a situationship that seemingly turned icy, Violet had a secret of her own to reveal.

When Novak put her initial attraction to Vazquez aside to pursue a short-lived relationship with Frost, Violet ended up becoming close with Vasquez and having a one-night stand. Violet confesses her sexual encounter to Novak when she shares that she still has feelings for him, creating an awkward and tense situation for the pair as Novak wasn't thrilled about Violet keeping that a secret.

Now, the stars are teasing more challenges ahead in season 14 for the dynamic duo.

Jocelyn Hudon, who plays Novak in Chicago Fire, spoke with NBC Insider and previewed the tests that Novak and Violet have coming up, especially in episode 18. The episode, which is titled "Instinct," finds the pair thrust into case with high and dangerous stakes, leading them to put any lingering differences aside and come together as the best friends and fearless partners they always have been.

Following those tests of strength for their friendship and partnership, Novak and Violet will come out stronger, according to Hudon. "I think the most important thing for Violet and Novak is their friendship over everything else. So I think their friendship might get tested a little bit, but I think both of them, they know what is really important. You'll see that put to the test and you'll see them overcome that."

Hanako Greensmith, who plays Violet, also explained to NBC Insider that after Violet and Novak had their difficult conversation about Vasquez, that situation won't be as important as the integrity of their friendship. But can Violet really just ignore any feelings she might still have for Vasquez? And where do his feeling factor into all of this? Greensmith suggest more possible twists are on the way.

"I honestly think that Violet's not trying to give it the time of day right now. I think what she knows is true is that her best friend has feelings for him... So I think there's still a lot to be discovered on what's authentically going on beneath the surface," Greensmith said.

For the most part, it sounds like we don't have to worry about Violet and Novak's friendship being ruined beyond repair over a love triangle with a man. They seem to be on the same page that their personal and professional relationship comes before anything else, and Novak understood why Violet hid the hookup, after all. But you can't discount the fact that there's still a love triangle on a low boil in the background.

Chicago Fire has had its fair share of love triangles across its 14 seasons on the air, and this won't be the last one. And we can't be sure that Violet-Vasquez-Novak has been officially resolved just yet. At the end of the day, either pairing could become an actual couple, and that would almost surely create conflict and weird feelings for the odd one out. Let's see how this triangle fares going forward!
