It seems a familiar face is about to check back into Chicago Fire and they’ve climbed the ranks since their last appearance on the show!

One Chicago Center has learned that Dandrell Scott has joined the season 14 cast in the recurring role of Lieutenant Briggs. At this time, it is unclear when we’ll first see Briggs back on our screens, but it has been confirmed that Briggs will be working within the CFD as the lieutenant of Truck 68.

Scott confirmed his return to Chicago Fire in a post on Instagram, sharing his excitement in revisiting the character and seeing what’s to come next for Briggs within the One Chicago universe. The post was accompanied by a series of behind-the-scenes photos from the set rocking his character’s Chicago Fire Department uniform.

“As of January 2026, I’ve accepted a recurring role as ‘Lieutenant Briggs’ on Chicago Fire. I first played this character in 2025, now I’m back as lieutenant of Truck 68. I’m excited to see where Briggs ends up in the [One Chicago] universe.”

Briggs is indeed a character who we’ve previously met within the show, though the character is one that some fans might not immediately remember. This is because Briggs’ introduction came in a very brief scene within season 13.

We first met Briggs in season 13, episode 16, “In the Rubble,” when Damon bumped into him at the Fire Academy. We quickly learned that Briggs and Damon worked together for a time as the pair caught up while talking about their current standings within the CFD. During the conversation, Briggs revealed that he was looking for a new side hustle to help bring in more money as he shared that he had another kid on the way.

While speaking with Damon, we learned that Briggs was working at 36 before the CFD pulled the firehouse’s engines and he was moved to a position on Truck. The news surprised Damon, but Briggs made it clear he was just happy to have a job even if they cut their hours in half as the firehouse at least remained open.

Knowing that Briggs is now lieutenant of Truck 68, it’s going to be interesting to see how he’s brought into the fold, but the most likely storyline is that he’s perhaps now working out of Firehouse 40. As fans will recall, Firehouse 40 is where Mouch was transferred after the decision was made to decommission Engine 51. We’re expecting this is a storyline that will not be immediately resolved, so it would make sense for Chicago Fire to give fans a glimpse into Mouch’s time at Firehouse 40.

The only hiccup in this theory is that Truck 68 was last said to be assigned to Firehouse 20, where Damon was once working before he came back to Firehouse 51. However, with all of the budget cuts and firehouse closures taking place within the CFD, it would be plausible that Firehouse 20 was closed and Truck 68 now operates out of Firehouse 40.

Fans will find out soon enough, as it sounds like we’ll be seeing Briggs back in action soon as season 14 enters the second half of the season!
