14 seasons into its run, Chicago Fire is somehow still finding ways to achieve firsts! I know; even I'm surprised by this feat, as it feels as though there isn't much Chicago Fire hasn't done over the course of its 14 seasons on NBC.
It's a real testament to the writers that the show is still finding ways to pull off surprises and check off new boxes through firsts within the franchise. It's also fun to get to witness them when they unfold and see how the writers weave the moments into the episodes in which they take place—and the show's latest first is sure to bring some fun hijinks!
While Molly's has been at the heart of many iconic moments over the years as a central part of the One Chicago franchise from the very beginning, the bar has somehow never been home to a trivia night. Well, that's about to change! Chicago Fire season 14, episode 17, "Sway," will see Molly's hosting its first-ever trivia night in a storyline we imagine is sure to bring us plenty of laughs.
Given how long Molly's has been open, it's wild to think that the bar has somehow never been home to a trivia night and that the idea never came up before when Herrmann was looking for ways to bring business to the bar. Trivia nights are a mainstay in many bars, and one would have assumed Molly's would have hosted a trivia night at some point; however, the synopsis for the episode makes it clear this will be Molly's first.
Little information has been provided on what will bring about Molly's first trivia night, but it seems logical to assume the idea comes up organically as part of an effort to bring in new patrons. Whether this idea comes from Herrmann or another member of the 51 team will be interesting, but regardless it's going to be fun to see how the idea comes to fruition.
The storyline is likely designed to break up the intense moments coming our way in the episode, which will see Kidd working to hunt down the cause of a devastating fire at a surgery center. It also seems safe to assume that we're going to see Chief Hopkins pushing more buttons at 51 now that he's set up shop at the firehouse with the intentions of pushing Severide out of the CFD and preventing him from being named captain.
We're certainly going to welcome the lighter trivia storyline in the episode to help break up the tensions created by Hopkins, and it'll be fun to see how things come together. We're sure there will be some unexpected setbacks along the way in preparation for Molly's hosting its first trivia night, only for everything to eventually work out for the best in the end!
