Heated Rivalry’s first season might have come to an end in December, but the breakout hit of 2025 continues to take the world by storm. Fans cannot get enough of the show with viewers happily rewatching the show via “reheats” as they’ve been dubbed by fans, and the show has brought a whole new audience to Rachel Reid’s Game Changers series which served as inspiration for the hit series.
Since the release of Heated Rivalry, book sales for the series have skyrocketed as fans have begun diving into the books that inspired the show. These fans include stars from our favorite shows and movies, including those from the One Chicago Universe!
Actress Katelynn Shennett, who plays Kylie Estevez on Chicago Fire, took to Instagram on February 17 to share her current read: Game Changers. The book is the first in Reid’s series and adapts the story of Scott Hunter and Kip Grady, whose love story played out in a condensed format in the first season of the show.
“About 70 pages to go on this one and I will be bingeing the rest tonight!” Shennett wrote on her Instgram Stories when sharing the progress on her latest book selection.
Unlike many others, Shennett admitted in an earlier post on her Instagram that she has chosen to read the books before watching the show – a journey I love for her as someone who watched the show and then read the books. Any fan who has read the books knows how easy it is to binge-read the series and we’re honestly so excited to hear Shennett’s full commentary on the book once she’s completed it.
As Chicago Fire fans who follow her on Instagram know, Shennett is an avid reader and often uses her social media account to share updates on her latest reads. This includes a monthly round-up in which she shares her thoughts on some of the books she’s read during the month.
Given her plans to binge-read the final chapters of Game Changers, it seems Shennett is just as in love with Scott and Kip’s story as the rest of the world. The book has already been added to her ShopMy account used to allow fans to keep up with the products she’s enjoying.
Funny enough, the character of Scott Hunter shares a connection to another actress in the One Chicago universe. In the show, the character is played by François Arnaud, who starred in the NBC series Midnight, Texas with Chicago Med’s Sarah Ramos! It’s a fun full-circle moment for the One Chicago universe, and proof that Heated Rivalry’s impact is stretching far beyond the rink.
