Chicago Fire might be off our screens for the summer, but Prime Video is about to give fans a new series to enjoy starring a beloved actor from the One Chicago franchise!Â
On June 10, Prime Video will release the complete first season of its newest original series Every Year After, starring former Chicago Fire star Michael Bradway. The new series will see Bradway taking on a very different character than the one fans got to see him play on Chicago Fire with a role reversal of sorts incoming. While Bradway played Severide’s younger brother on Chicago Fire, he’ll be playing the older brother of the show’s lead character, with Bradway taking on the role of Charlie, the older brother of Matt Cornett’s character, Sam.Â
The show is also a bit of a departure from what fans might be used to from Chicago Fire.Â
Every Year After is a romantic drama based on Carley Fortune’s beloved book series, with the first season told over the course of six years and one week in Barry’s Bay, the lake town that serves as the backdrop for the series. The first season promises a romantic, nostalgic story of first loves and the people and choices that leave a lasting impact on you forever.Â
This will mark Bradway’s first role since leaving Chicago Fire, and it was actually his role in Every Year After that led to his departure from Chicago Fire. Due to production schedules, Bradway was unable to appear in both shows, leading to Damon’s departure from Firehouse 51 at the beginning of season 14.
Given that Bradway’s character is central to Every Year After and a second season seems highly likely if the show is well received by viewers, it’s unlikely that we’ll see Damon back on Chicago Fire anytime soon. The good news is that the door was left open for his return, with the show’s writers simply having Damon transferred out of 51 to a new house to explain his exit.
Hopefully, filming schedules will align in a manner that allows Bradway to return as Damon in the future, even if just for an episode or two. His exit was certainly sudden and was rushed due to the nature of Bradway’s exit, so it would be nice to catch up with Damon and find out how he’s been doing since leaving 51.Â
Regardless of what the future might hold for his time on Chicago Fire, it's going to be exciting to see Bradway back on our screens taking on this new role. Even more exciting is knowing that should the show continue, we'll likely get to see Bradway take center stage when it comes time to adapt Charlie's book in the series, which would be a real treat!
