Chicago Fire star’s return for season 15 looking highly unlikely

It seems there is one specific actor fans shouldn't expect to see back for Chicago Fire season 15.

Looking ahead to Chicago Fire season 15, fans are anxiously waiting to see which members of the show’s core cast will and won’t be returning. The fear of losing a longtime member of the show’s ensemble is rooted in the season-ending cliffhanger that put the lives of nearly the entire team in danger.

It’s been years since we’ve felt this level of fear about a cast departure coming our way, and fans are worried that season 15 will open with a cast exit. As much as we’d like to say fans shouldn’t be worried, the reality is that Chicago Fire has never been afraid of writing off a fan-favorite character, and we’ve seen many cast exits come in the opening hour of a season.

In fact, just last year we saw two characters exit the show in the season opener with Jake Lockett’s Sam Carver and Michael Bradway’s Jack Damon, both departing off-screen. Carver’s exit was foreshadowed in the season 14 finale when he announced he had put in a transfer request to get a fresh start, but Damon’s exit was unexpected as there were no hints he was leaving.

During the Chicago Fire season 14 premiere, we learned that Damon had been transferred to another firehouse, and the character was not seen or heard from at all in season 14. Fans hoped that perhaps we’d see Damon back in season 15, but his return is looking highly unlikely at this time.

Michael Bradway unlikely to return for Chicago Fire season 15

Unlike the exits of Jake Lockett and Daniel Kyri, who were written out of Chicago Fire due to cost-cutting measures, Michael Bradway exited Chicago Fire ahead of season 14 after being cast in the role of Charlie Florek in Prime Video’s Every Year After. With Bradway joining the cast of Prime Video’s new drama as a series regular, he was unable to film both shows and stepped away from Chicago Fire.

Thankfully, the writers left the door open for Bradway to return in the future; however, Prime Video has made his return in season 15 very unlikely.

During the first annual Obsessed Fest event, Prime Video announced that it had renewed Every Year After for a second season. It also announced that the second season will adapt One Golden Summer, which focuses on the love story of Bradway’s character Charlie – meaning that Bradway will play an even bigger role in the second season of the show.

Given that Bradway had to exit Chicago Fire in order to film season 1 of Every Year After and the fact that season 2 will likely follow a similar production schedule as season 1, the odds aren’t in One Chicago fans’ favor for seeing Bradway back for season 15. That’s not to say it’s impossible, but the reality is that Bradway has moved on and is leading a cast of another hit show now.

It’s certainly bittersweet as we loved Damon and Bradway was such an amazing addition to the Chicago Fire family, but we’re so thrilled to see him getting to lead a show and for his post-One Chicago success. Hopefully, the stars will align and we’ll get to see Damon again one day, but for now we’ll enjoy rooting for Bradway’s continued success on Every Year After.
