Chicago Med has lots of trauma, and we aren't just talking about the surgery unit. The characters who currently fill out the Gaffney roster have been through a lot and are still struggling to make sense of it all. It's part of what makes them all so endearing, and why we root for them to grow.
John Frost is a newer addition to the Med cast, but we are still getting a feel for who he is and what he's been through. There are still lots of blanks to be filled in, and Darren Barnet, the actor who plays him, revealed that a newcomer will help to do just that.
Barnet told TV Insider that Med season 10 will see the introduction of a character that Frost knows from his past. Frost was an actor prior to entering the medical field, and his show biz background will evidently come into play when this character resurfaces.
A Glee actress will play Dr. Frost's former friend
"There is a figure that is coming back from [the] acting days of my life," Barnet revealed. "That will maybe be coming back around that was on a very popular show about singing, I would say, at one point." TV Insider asked for specific details on who might play the newcomer, but Barnet remained tight-lipped. He did, however, tease a pretty major detail.
Barnet claimed that the actor who will be coming onto the show in season 10 previously starred on Glee. "She was on Glee," he noted. "I’m not going to say who it is." It's one heck of a tease, and one that has us very curious to see when this newcomer factors into the story.
Unfortunately, for Frost, the aforementioned newcomer isn't the only person who will remind him of his past life. Barnet told the outlet that the doctor's parents could also be making a return at some point, which will force him to confront some very deep-seated issues.

"They were not the best," Barnet revealed about Mr. and Mrs. Frost. "They stole or used all of his money from his acting days. He’s very much in medical debt. They seem to be very opportunistic as parents, and they may be coming back around under some dire circumstances."
Frost had make attempts to appear put together and controlled, but the actor admitted that his parents, in particular, are Kryptonite when it comes to his maturity. "Frost cannot handle parents mishandling a child in any form," he added. "Emotionally, medically, et cetera."
It's going to be an extremely unpleasant time for the character, but we'd be lying if we didn't say we were fascinated to see how it all goes down. Besides, we like Frost, and the more we learn about him and the things that make him tick, the more of a connection we can establish.
