It seems yet another One Chicago alum is about to cross over into the FBI universe!
After OA turned in his badge to go undercover in the FBI season 8 finale, Maggie is going to need a new partner, and she’ll find him in Special Agent Isaiah Green, played by Chicago Med alum Roland Buck III. Little is known about Maggie’s new partner, but Inside Line has confirmed that he happens to share a connection to the ADIC Lawrence Green, which is sure to complicate matters at the FBI headquarters.
While unconfirmed, it seems reasonable to make the assumption that Isaiah might be ADIC Green’s son, which would certainly make things interesting for Maggie and the team. ADIC Green hasn’t exactly been making friends at the bureau, and having a nepo baby in the mix will surely only lead to further complications. We're sure ADIC Green is going to be very protective of Isaiah and willing to look the other way or displace blame if things go wrong in the field. What will be interesting is to see whether Isaiah is the type of character who embraces the perks that come with being a nepo baby or is someone who doesn't want special treatment.
Buck is certainly no stranger to playing the relative of a key character and mixing things up. The actor played Dr. Noah Sexton on Chicago Med, the younger brother of nurse April Sexton. Noah was often getting into precarious situations that left April stuck between a rock and a hard place, so let’s hope that Agent Green won’t be doing the same to Maggie. Noah’s inability to follow rules eventually led to him being fired from Gaffney at the end of season 6 after he broke protocol during an assisted suicide case.
His final appearance on the show would come two seasons later when Buck reprised his role as Noah in the season 8 fall finale, which saw April and Ethan finally tying the knot. Since exiting the show, Buck has kept a relatively quiet profile, most recently appearing in FX's American Sports Story.
It’s definitely going to be exciting to see Buck back on our screens in his new role on FBI, and it’s nice to see that the One Chicago-to-FBI pipeline is still strong. Wolf Entertainment loves to keep it in the family, with many actors appearing in multiple shows within the collective One Chicago, FBI, and Law & Order franchises.
Former Chicago Med star Nick Gehlfuss is currently a lead of the latest FBI spinoff, CIA, which also features Chicago PD alum Natalee Linez; FBI: International tapped Chicago PD alum Jesse Lee Soffer for a lead role in its final season; and Chicago Med alum Guy Lockard appeared in a major recurring role in FBI season 8 as Clay Voss. We’ll now add Buck to that ever-growing list when FBI season 9 premieres this October on CBS.
