Chicago Med boss shuts down idea of Hannah and Mitch reuniting: ‘[They’re] done as far as I’m concerned’

Sorry Chicago Med fans, it seems we won't be seeing Hannah and Mitch getting back together.

Heading into the eleventh season of Chicago Med, fans were eager to see who the father of Hannah’s baby would turn out to be. The mystery was solved at the top of the premiere as we learned Dean was the baby’s father. While Dean was revealed to be the father of the baby, Hannah and Mitch fans still held out some hope that perhaps the couple would reconcile and get back together – a possibility that looked more likely after Mitch and Sadie broke up ahead of the winter premiere.

Well, I’m afraid I have some bad news for the Chicago Med fans who have been holding out hope that Hannah and Mitch might find their way back to one another. It seems the ship has truly sailed on the fan-favorite couple, and we won’t be seeing Hannah and Mitch give their relationship another try.

Speaking with Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald ahead of the Chicago Med winter premiere, MacDonald confirmed that Mitch and Hannah are officially over.

“I have a rule that I won't tease something, or suggest something that I know is absolutely not gonna happen. It's not really a love triangle anymore because Mitch is out and, you know, Hannah's pregnant with Dean’s child. They've agreed to be two friends having a baby, which Hannah says multiple times this season, almost to assure herself that that's what is going to be the future because that's the safest way forward for her because I think that Dean and Hannah have a lot of complicated emotions for each other,” MacDonald revealed.

Fans can expect the upcoming episodes to delve deeper into Hannah and Dean’s relationship and the feelings they have for one another. However, the one thing fans won’t see is Hannah and Mitch getting back together.

“I think [Dean and Hannah] do love each other. If it's romantic love, I don't think they've figured that out yet, but there's nothing more intimate and emotional than having a child together, and they're experiencing that and they're putting up all these rules and these rule fences. It's a terrible way to put it, but the events of the season are going to knock a lot of those fences down and force them to confront issues that they're kind of avoiding at the moment. But as far as Mitch, he and Hannah are done as far as I'm concerned.”

As disappointing as it might be to the fans who had been hoping that Mitch and Hannah might find a way back to one another, it’s the right call. Hannah and Mitch were amazing together, but it was clear they might not be endgame, and the show has a really fascinating and layered storyline to continue exploring through the Dean and Hannah dynamic.

We’re excited to see how the pair will continue to navigate the journey to becoming parents together, and the challenges that await them as the season continues.
