The countdown until the premiere of Chicago Med season 12 on Oct. 7 is on, thanks to the cast and crew being hard and work filming the new episodes. Since cameras started rolling and details have started trickling in from set, fans have been hanging onto each and every tease, whether it's about Maggie's whereabouts in season 12 or how many episodes Sarah Ramos will miss.
Jumping off the season 11 finale, there are plenty of questions left over that still need to be answered, and because one of the biggest parts of the previous season revolved around Hannah and Dean preparing for the arrival of their daughter, that's naturally where most of our questions arise. Will the doctors finally be in a committed relationship while coparenting their newborn?
Obviously, it's too early to know what's going on with "Dasher," but Chicago Med's showrunner Allen MacDonald shared a new detail about the new parents' status that points toward a possibly major step forward in their relationship. According to the medical drama's boss, Hannah and Dean are "essentially" living together during the early days of their daughter's life. Oh?

Hannah and Dean are "cohabitating" in Chicago Med season 12
In an interview with Give Me My Remote, MacDonald didn't give much away about the current relationship status of Hannah and Dean, but the fact that he revealed that they are shacking up seems to suggest that after Dean's love confession in the season 11 finale, there could be positive steps forward for them in season 12.
"They’re figuring it out, and they’re figuring [it] out within the framing of having a child together, and having to care for the child. They are definitely communicating with each other, and Archer is essentially living at Hannah’s house because of the baby… They’re cohabitating."
We probably shouldn't be reading to far into Hannah and Dean living together in Chicago Med season 12, considering it's most likely due to convenience for Dean to be a hands-on father and help Hannah care for Mabel throughout the night. Regardless of convenience or co-parenting, living together in any form is still a big step for any two people, especially these characters.
MacDonald stating that they are "figuring it out" could have a double meaning. They are figuring out how to raise a child together while also figuring out where their relationship stands in various definitions. There's love between them that has been put right on the line by Dean, but whether that's reciprocated or further developed remains to be seen.
But living under the same roof makes those conversations difficult to ignore. Hannah and Dean will have to continue the conversation Dean started in the hospital after Mabel's birth, and we might not even have a concrete label on their relationship when season 12 premieres. No matter what, MacDonald has confirmed a huge relationship development for the new roomies.
In addition to revealing Hannah and Dean's living situation without dropping any big spoilers, MacDonald also fielded a question from Matt's Inside Line about Mabel's last name. Will she be Mabel Asher, Mabel Archer, or Mabel Asher-Archer? He didn't say, but the showrunner confirmed it's one of the many "complexities of parenthood" the pair will be navigating in season 12.
