Chicago Med boss unveils (another) Chicago Fire crossover in season 10

The overlap between shows doesn't end with "In the Trenches."

The One Chicago crossover was a success. Most fans agree the three-part event delivered on all fronts, and gave fans one exciting scene after enough between their favorite characters. The only real knock against the event, at least based on online discussion, is that Med players had less to do than Chicago Fire or PD.

The Med characters saved more lives than their franchise peers, but Fire and PD had more to do in terms of drama, and characters from both shows were put in danger, emphasizing their importance within the overall plot. Don't worry, though, because Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald has confirmed the show will be getting a bonus crossover in season 10.

The mini-crossover will occur in episode 1015

The crossover will take place in episode 15, and involve a character from Chicago Fire. MacDonald made it clear that the storyline that will drive the episode was introduced during the crossover, and it was purposely left unresolved so it could explored more throughout the season.

"There are some repercussions," MacDonald told One Chicago Center. "One of the Chicago Fire characters will pop up on Chicago Med in episode 15. And we'll continue a dynamic between two characters that was set up in that."

The showrunner's decision to be vague with which characters makes sense. It also allows for lots of fan speculation, as there are multiple One Chicago combinations that could apply in episode 15. Dr. Archer (Steven Weber) played a huge role in the crossover, but most of his scenes with other characters occurred remotely (i.e. his advising of Stella Kidd in the train car).

There are lots of possible character combinations

Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) and Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell) had crucial scenes with other characters from the One Chicago universe, but once again, they were brief and resolved within the crossover event. One of the more intriguing candidates is Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos).

The character treated Chicago PD stalwart Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) alongside Ripley, and she also had some tense exchanges with Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati). She refused to let IU members interrogate an injured suspect, for fear of putting the suspect's life in danger.

Things got so heated at one point, that Burgess threatened to arrest Lenox for obstruction of their investigation. Lenox ultimately found a happy middle ground, and gave Burgess some info about the patient that aided the IU's case. Lenox may have been the busiest Med character during the entire event, but most of her interactions were PD based. We are excited to find out who spearheads the crossover in episode 15, on both sides.
