In fact, there have been so many that some fans like to rank One Chicago's crossover events, and viewers are practiced at figuring out how to correctly watch them. As a result, viewers know to expect the beloved franchise to continue, featuring huge television events that allow the different shows to smash together in an entertaining fashion.
While those major events have become expected and anticipated by many One Chicago fans, the franchise's viewers may be surprised by what is set to happen in the coming television season. As it turns out, there will be a lot more crossovers in the coming season, although they won't be as grandiose. Chicago Fire's showrunner recently revealed how that show will cross over with Chicago Med several times in the upcoming episodes.
Chicago Fire's Novak will make several Chicago Med appearances
In September 2025, the team at TVLine put together a preview of the upcoming fall television season. As a part of that piece, the outlet looked at what is in store for the One Chicago franchise in the coming months. In order to learn about the plans for the upcoming season of Chicago Fire, the outlet spoke to that series's showrunner, Andrea Newman. Interestingly enough, she also told TVLine about something exciting that is in store for Chicago Med season 11 too.
According to Andrea, Chicago Fire will and Chicago Med will cross over “a bunch of times” during the upcoming TV season. While talking to TVLine, she described Jocelyn Hudon's character, Lyla "Lizzy" Novak, having several interactions with Chicago Med's storylines. Furthermore, Andrea teased why Lizzy will be wrapped up with Chicago Med's characters.

Of course, what is intriguing for television viewers is in the eye of the beholder. As a result, it is pretty difficult to read too much into the comments that Andrea made about the planned mini-crossovers. That said, Andrea's comments make it crystal clear that the team behind the One Chicago franchise believes that fans will be engaged by the causes for Lizzy's interactions with the employees of the Gaffney Chicago Medical Center.
It is also definitely worth noting that Lizzy being the character to repeatedly crossover with the Chicago Med world makes a lot of sense. After all, Lizzy is a paramedic who is assigned to Firehouse 51, so she clearly has a lot of medical expertise. With that in mind, it is fascinating to contemplate the potential storylines that could involve Lizzy interacting with Chicago Med's characters.
