While most One Chicago fans tend to watch all three One Chicago shows on Wednesday nights, Chicago Med fans who only casually watch new episodes of Chicago Fire are going to want to make sure to stick around for the January 21 episode! This is because Chicago Fire season 14, episode 10 is about to stage a mini-crossover that will see Chicago Med’s Darren Barnet crossing over heavily in the episode!

After taking a backseat in the first few episodes of both Chicago Fire and Chicago Med following the shows’ returns on January 7, we’re finally about to revisit the budding relationship between Frost and Novak. As fans will recall, things got flirty between Frost and Novak on Chicago Med ahead of the winter break after the pair teamed up to rescue a patient’s lost bunny. From there, sparks began to fly and fans were eager to see whether a flame would ignite.

Well, it seems things are about to heat up and it’s only fitting that it’s Chicago Fire which is cranking up the heat and exploring the dynamic between the pair!

NBC first teased that episode 10, “Carry a Torch,” would revisit the Novak and Frost relationship when the episode synopsis teased that Novak would be exploring a new romantic connection. If there was any doubt that this romantic connection was with Frost, the promo for the episode cleared those doubts up immediately.

The promo opened with Violet and Novak enjoying a drink at Molly’s as Violet asks her friend if she had somewhere to be, noticing Novak seemed to be more interested in whoever she was messaging on her phone than in her company. Novak playfully gave a “maybe” as we cut to Frost and Novak hooking up. Between glimpses of Novak and Frost passionately kissing, we see Novak gushing about the hookup.

Given how elated Novak appears when telling Violet about the hookup, we have a feeling it won’t be a one-time occurrence and we’re excited to see how the pair’s relationship is going to develop. Considering that Chicago Med showrunner Allen MacDonald teased that we’re going to see a lot of the pair in the episodes ahead, fans shouldn’t expect this to be a flash in the pan fling but rather something that has the potential to develop into something significant.

We’ve seen cross-show romances over the years, but the only one that has stood the test of time has been the relationship between Chicago Fire’s Mouch and Chicago PD’s Platt. It’ll be interesting to see if Frost and Novak can go the distance, but Chicago Med fans are certainly going to want to tune into Chicago Fire to ensure they don’t miss a major development in the pair’s relationship along the way!
