Each episode, Chicago Med tends to welcome a new crop of guest character during the various medical cases of the week. Some of the guest stars are more recognizable than others, but they always manage to steal our hearts in different ways. Whether it's a How to Get Away with Murder star playing a villain or a Desperate Housewives star bringing the tears, the guests are hard to forget.
In Chicago Med season 11 episode 12, the show's commitment to bringing in new guest stars continued. Between new patients and finally getting to meet Frost's estranged parents, "Spill Your Guts" was an episode full of new faces. Those new faces also included a trio of medical students aspiring to get into the psych field who made their way to Gaffney to shadow Dr. Charles.
Amira (Brianne Tju), Sabrina (Kirrilee Berger), and Quentin (Anthony Keyvan) arrived in the emergency department and were almost immediately overwhelmed by the near constant flow of serious cases that arrived one after another. Charles walked them through a particularly challenging psych case, which ended up helping the students come to realizations about their futures.
Chicago Med needs more Anthony Keyvan as Quentin
One of the students caught our eye in particular as a possible future Gaffney doctor, and that was Quentin. Initially, Quentin didn't appear committed to shadowing Charles because he didn't see himself practicing psychiatry in an emergency department setting. He imagined a private practice to better balance his life with his work. But a conversation with Charles changed his perspective.
Quentin helped crack the case that involved two brothers who were opening a pizza shop together. One brother consistently experiences psychosis and believe it was because of his brother. Quentin theorized a latent gluten allergy could be causing his mental state to suffer. He turned out to be right, and even though Charles had privately worked that hypothesis, he allowed Quentin to be inspired.
By the end of the episode, Sabrina revealed to Charles that she realized she didn't want to pursue a medical field this high stakes, and Amira remained unfazed by the high pace and tragedy. She had the best day of her life! We wouldn't mind see more from all three of the medical students, whether this season or in future seasons, but Amira and especially Quentin could be part of this team.
Even as a guest star appearing on Chicago Med for the first time, Keyvan assimilated right away into this world and felt like a natural fit with the rest of the cast. Sure, the XO, Kitty and Love, Victor star is much younger at 25 years old, but his addition in future episodes would open not only the hospital but also the show up to a new generation. And you never know when characters might leave.
One Chicago series tend to bring in new faces when characters make an exit, and we've already set our sights on who we want next. The series introduced Frost and Lenox as new characters last season, but by the time season 12 rolls around, perhaps Gaffney will be in the market for an extra hand in the psych department. We wouldn't mind that extra hand being Quentin!
