Chicago Med just reminded us why we need more of Frost and Hannah’s friendship

Over the course of its long run, Chicago Med has fostered its fair share of friendships in the Gaffney emergency department between the medical staff. Some of those memorable pairs are even characters that have long departed the series, but among the current cast, there are so many strong dynamics that we can't get enough of... and one that needs to be explored even more.

While watching Chicago Med season 11 episode 12, I was struck by a casual scene that was largely meant as a small aside from the various emergencies happening throughout the hour. In the beginning of the episode, Asher pushes Frost for some details about his blossoming romance with Novak and gives him some advice. The scene was a reminder that they don't interact nearly enough.

Apart from infrequently working together with a patient here and there, Asher and Frost don't usually share scenes together talking about their personal lives. Their brief chat in episode 12 made me want to see more from their friendship because it's such a unique one. There's no shipping involved. I don't want anything romantic for them. Just a fun, brotherly-sisterly platonic friendship!

Asher and Frost's friendship should be explored more on Chicago Med

Since joining the show in season 10, Frost has been the guy in the emergency department that's pretty much cool with everyone. He has no active beef or hard feelings with any of his fellow doctors (though there might be some lingering awkwardness with Naomi after their near-miss romance). But Darren Barnet and Jessy Schram have incredible chemistry in scenes together.

It's no secret that both of their personal lives are complicated. Asher has a complex past with Ripley, who happens to be Frost's new best friend and current roommate, and she has an even more intricate situation going on with Archer as they expect a child together. Frost's backstory is chock full of mess, from his past as a child star and intense relationship with his parents.

For some reason, and maybe I'm projecting, Asher and Frost seem to get each other in a way that the others on the team don't. Not to mention, they are both the most amiable doctors in the ED, which isn't hard when Lenox (as much as we all love her) is on board. Asher and Frost are so easy to get along with, and it's only natural that they would get along with each other without incident.

However, maybe there should be some sort of incident in future episodes that brings them closer together as friends. Something with lower stakes than Lenox and Ripley's brush with death, but big enough that they form a bond that's somehow healing. Frost has been burned a lot in the past by the women in his life. Asher could be someone to offer a safe place to land with no strings attached.

Again, I don't want anything romantic between the two of them, and I'd venture to guess that most Chicago Med fans would agree with that. Given the number of past romantic relationships that have happened at the hospital, we're overdue for a friendship that doesn't mix things up in a way that's stressful for the team. We've had enough love triangles to hold us over for a while!
