Chicago Med is closing in on its season 10 finale, but first, we have to get through the fallout of the penultimate season 10 episode, "Baby Mine..." There was plenty going on at Gaffney, but the most pressing storyline revolved around Dr. Caitlin Lenox (Sarah Ramos) and the unsettling allegations made against her coworker and romantic interest, Dr. Hayes (Brendan Hines).

SPOILERS ahead!

Before we dug into that drama, we got some lighter fare with Dr. Mitch Ripley (Luke Mitchell). He had been tasked with watching his godson, but the child could not go more than a few seconds without crying if he wasn't being held. Naturally, this proved an issue for Ripley, who was dealing with patients at the same time. This was a charming bit on the surface, but actually proved to be foreshadowing for a truly massive revelation at the end of the episode.

Caitlin Lenox enters the picture in unexpected fashion. Her brother, Kip, was getting treated by Dr. Archer (Steven Weber) after taking a bad fall. Kip and Caitlin's mother suffered from a condition that eventually claimed her life. Their dad followed soon after, leaving them orphaned from an early age. Evidently, Kip and Caitlin Lenox agreed never to get tested to learn if they suffered from the same condition as their mother. Naturally, Dr. Archer was concerned.

Lenox's day got even worse when she caught wind of the board's investigation into Dr. Hayes. The doctor found out that Hayes, a man she'd developed romantic feelings for, had sexually harassed Cardiothoracic Resident Naomi Howard (Ashlei Sharpe Chestnut). Naomi told Lenox in confidence, fearing that the board would protect Hayes due to how much money he brings into the hospital.

Dr. Hayes gets investigated by the board

Lenox ignored Naomi's request and went to Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) with these allegations. Sadly, Naomi was right. The Gaffney board gave Hayes the lightest punishment imaginable, and the Cardiothoracic Resident feared her career was permanently tainted as a result. It was all for naught. At least, it looked like it in the moment.

Lenox returned to her brother's side, and voiced serious concern over his worsening state. She eventually caved and asked Kip to get tested to determine what could be going wrong, but true to their earlier pact, Kip refused. Even after he attempted to leave the hospital and collapsed due to numbness in his legs. This is going to have repercussions on the lives of both Lenox siblings.

The doctor then had the misfortune of running into Hayes in the elevator. The latter bragged about the board's decision, and mocked Lenox, claiming he could have any woman he wanted. This is where Lenox's line from the promo, regarding her willingness to "light [herself] on fire" to watch Hayes burn, is delivered. Soon after, the allegations against Hayes leak to a newspaper. Not just the allegations made by Naomi, either. Allegations made by several other women, including a Gaffney nurse.

The board was forced to save face in light of this public airing out. Dr. Hayes may have brought lots of money into the hospital, but now he was bringing the wrong kind of attention, and he was finally fired. Naomi may have been reluctant to come forward, but her decision to do so gave other women the courage to do so, and saved countless others from similar encounters.

Dr. Asher discovers that she's pregnant

You may be putting two and two together and concluding that Dr. Lenox was the one who leaked the story to the press. She vowed to bring Hayes down, so it would make sense. Especially after attempts to go through proper channels of power went awry. But no, it turned out that the one who went to the press was Naomi. She decided to take matters into her own hands, and finished the job she started, inadvertently, in the previous episode.

Naomi informed Lenox that she was leaving Gaffney behind, as she needed a fresh start elsewhere. The two women made up, and Lenox wished Naomi the best on her career path. The absolutely wild thing about the episode "Baby Mine...," though, is that Dr. Hayes being fired and Naomi leaving were not the most shocking developments to occur.

That honor went to Dr. Hannah Asher (Jessy Schram) who discovered that she could not become a surrogate for her sister because she was already pregnant with her own child! The implication is the child belongs to Dr. Ripley, the same man who humorously struggled to look after a child for most of the episode. It was an absolute bombshell revelation, and one that will change the lives of both Asher and Ripley (assuming the child is his) forever. What an episode!
