After taking a week off, Chicago Med finally returned on Nov. 6 with a fresh new episode that saw the thread against Goodwin reaching a boiling point.

As the episode begins we learn that Goodwin has been staying with Dennis after the break-in at her home. While Dennis tries to see the best in the situation and expresses his desire for her to move in with him, Goodwin isn’t exactly a fan of being displaced.

When she heads to Med, her day is quickly derailed when Atwater shows up and tells her that the threat against her has elevated. We learn that a man named Patrick Dunn is their primary suspect. Turns out Patrick used to work in radiology at Med until recently when he was let go from the hospital.

At first, Goodwin brushes it off saying that while he had an overblown reaction to being let go, he was always well-mannered. This is when Atwater reveals that he has a history of mental instability and is the owner of several guns. Not only that, but he’s been taking to social media to post hateful comments about Med, and his latest post involved strongly worded, hateful language against Goodwin.

In a surprise twist, the episode ends with the news that Patrick is being brought into Med with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a showdown with the police. Is this really the end of the threat against Goodwin? We’ll have to wait to see.

Elsewhere in the episode, Dr. Charles and Frost teamed up to help a teen from a disciplinary camp injured via a rockslide suffering from a lapse of memory. Initially, it seemed like the fall was connected to his memory issues, but with Dr. Charles’ help, we learned that it was connected to him repressing the memory of watching his abusive father fall to his death and choosing not to call for help in knowing it was the only way to keep his mother safe.

Episode 6 is also a great episode for Maggie, who ends up being roped into helping to deliver a high schooler’s baby after her cousin attempts to steal supplies from their mobile medical unit. When Maggie follows the boy to his apartment, she discovers his teenage cousin is going into labor. Maggie helps deliver the baby safely, but the young girl is on the fence about what to do as she hid the pregnancy from her mom out of fear of letting her down by becoming pregnant as a teen as her mom did.

In the end, when the young girl holds the baby in her arms, she decides to keep the child rather than put her up for adoption with her mom’s full support.

Finally, it seems like tensions between Lenox and Archer are about to reach a boiling point heading into next week’s episode. This week, Lenox went around Archer in deciding to proceed with a risky surgery on one of the teens injured in the disciplinary camp rockslide with the permission of the camp’s counselor rather than waiting for the boy’s parents to arrive to give consent. Sadly, the boy died during the operation which understandably left Archer furious at her decision.

The promo for next week seems to hint that Goodwin might soon have to choose between the two and we imagine tensions are going to be even higher as they reach a boiling point.
