The Chicago Med season 10 fall finale left Goodwin in a dangerous predicament that has fans worried for her future on the show.

We had a feeling the Chicago Med fall finale would end with a cliffhanger or two to keep fans talking over the course of the break, but we never quite expected the final episode of 2024 to come to a close in the way it did.

Warning spoilers ahead from the Chicago Med fall finale, though you might have already picked up on that from the title of this post.

Early on in the season, Goodwin received a death threat and things quickly escalated with the mystery stalker breaking into Goodwin’s home and Chicago PD having to get involved. In episode 6, we were led to believe the threat was neutralized when PD honed in on Patrick Dunn as the primary suspect after finding threatening comments made on social media.

We learned that Patrick was a former employee at Med but was recently let go and it seems he didn’t exactly take his firing well, blaming Goodwin for being let go. As the police closed in on him, Patrick was brought into Med with a self-inflicted gunshot wound following a showdown with the police and it seemed like Goodwin was in the clear. However, as we learned in the fall finale that was not the case.

When going to her office, Goodwin is confronted by her true stalker: a woman by the name of Cassidy, the wife of a patient who died in the boating accident that occurred in the season 10 premiere. We learn that Cassidy’s wife died after Goodwin decided to allocate the hospital’s final remaining units of blood to another patient who was in dire need of the blood.

Cassidy blames Goodwin for the death of her wife and in a fit of rage, she stabs Goodwin in the stomach sending her collapsing to the ground. As the episode ends, Goodwin is not in good shape and it looks like she’s about to lose consciousness when she rallies and attempts to get help after hearing someone outside her office.

That someone was Archer, who came up to Goodwin’s office to slide his letter of resignation under her door, and who was shocked to see a bloodied Goodwin come running out of her office calling for help as the elevator doors closed with the episode’s end.

Despite that cliffhanger, we don't think Goodwin is leaving Chicago Med

In the promo for the winter premiere, Goodwin’s attacker comes running after her and the two somehow end up back in Goodwin’s office where a struggle ensues. At one point, Cassidy is able to pin Goodwin down and hold her at knifepoint as Archer comes racing back up.

While the promo finds Goodwin in a grave situation, we have a gut feeling that Archer is going to get to her in time to stop Cassidy from causing her any further harm as we can’t imagine the show writing Goodwin off.

What’s likely to happen is that the winter premiere and the episodes that follow will see Goodwin struggling with her near-death experience. We also imagine the moment is going to be what causes Archer not to leave Med behind, as there’s no way we can see him walking away after watching Goodwin nearly lose her life to the former patient’s spouse.

Of course, the One Chicago writers aren’t afraid to kill characters off, but we just don’t see them killing off one of the show’s sole remaining original cast members – especially Goodwin.
