It seems congratulations are in order for Chicago Med star Sarah Ramos, who has announced she is expecting her first child with husband Matt Spicer!
Ramos broke the news via Instagram, sharing several sweet photos from her recent baby shower, celebrating the joyous occasion with her family and friends. Among the photos shared in Ramos’ Instagram post was a stunning photo in which she proudly shows off her baby bump in a cropped white shirt against a background of colorful balloons.
“Surprise! If you’re not surprised I’m pregnant, act like it! I have no good photos with the father of my child lol,” Ramos wrote, “Just a ton with the shower guests of honor: the Labelle Foundation puppies available for adoption!”
This will be the first baby for both Ramos and Spicer, who tied the knot in October 2020. The pair eloped in a Las Vegas chapel with an Elvis Presley impersonator walking her down the aisle. Love is a wild thing," Ramos wrote at the time when sharing the wedding photos on Instagram.
Many of Ramos' costars were quick to jump in to offer their congratulations on the news, including several of Ramos' Chicago Med costars.
"Look at you! "Sarah, you look fabulous," remarked S. Epatha Merkerson, who plays Sharon Goodwin on the long-running medical drama.
"WHOOOOOP!" exclaimed Steven Weber (Dr. Dean Archer). "Congrats!!" added recurring season 11 guest star Jack Falahee.
It's certainly exciting news for Ramos, and One Chicago fans were also quick to jump in with countless messages of support. flooding the comments of Ramos' announcement post on Instagram.
As for what the pregnancy could mean for her Chicago Med character? It has not been revealed whether the show will write the pregnancy into the series, though the franchise has historically opted not to write in pregnancy storylines. Given that Lenox has been romantically involved with Ripley this season, it would be fun to see the show work the storyline into the series and see how the pair navigate parenthood together.
It's also unknown whether Ramos will miss any episodes of the show come season 12. There is a chance that we could see Lenox sidelined for a few episodes at the beginning of the season depending on when filming on the season begins this summer. Fans will recall Marina Squerciati missed the few episodes of Chicago PD season 12 after the birth of her second child back in 2024.
What will be interesting is to see if the Chicago Med season 11 finale sets up a potential exit for Lenox or leaves things up in the air.
