Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) is a steadying force within Chicago Med. The character has always been someone that others can come to with their troubles and be treated to sage advice. Charles' wisdom does not mean he's safe from Gaffney Medical Center tragedies however, and the season 10 finale will serve as a reminder.
The synopsis for the season 10 finale, "Don't You Cry," sets up several compelling storylines, but the one that has most concerned has to do with Dr. Charles. "Charles’ daughter is hospitalized after a car accident," the TV Line report reads. Straight up, bad news. We don't know which of Dr. Charles' kids is the one involved in the accident, but we do know that this'll be the latest in a long line of traumatizing incidents involving the Charles family.
Dr. Charles has already lost several family members

Dr. Charles is a strong candidate for most unlucky Chicago Med character. The poor man lost his brother, Tommy (Bruch Reed), to a drug overdose well before the events of the show. He's alluded to how much he misses Tommy, but he's not had the proper time to mourn due to the fact that he's lost his spouse and nearly lost his nephew in the seasons since.
Dr. Charles' first wife, Caroline "CeCe" Charles (Paula Newsome), suffered from lymphoma. The estranged couple actually reconnected, and remarried, when "CeCe" returned to Chicago to seek medical treatment, but their reunion did not last. "CeCe" died shortly after the season 5 episode "I Can't Imagine the Future." Dr. Charles was, understandably, crushed.
Dr. Charles' nephew, meanwhile, succumbed to the same addiction problems as his father Tommy. Matthew (Kyle Richards) is a promising athlete who is revealed to have a drug problem in season 5 (what a season for the doctor), but thankfully, Matthew is able to bounce back and get clean. We can only assume (and hope) that he has remained clean offscreen.
Dr. Charles' daughters haven't appeared in years

We anticipate that Dr. Charles' latest family tragedy will break his way. The man has been through so much over the course of the show, and his relationship with his daughters, while imperfect, have been a sort of saving grace for him ovet the years.
Robin (Mekia Fox) hasn't appeared on Chicago Med since the aforementioned season 5 episode "I Can't Imagine the Future," and Anna (Hannah Riley) hasn't appeared since season 8, so either way, we will be getting a Charles reunion in the season 10 finale. Fingers crossed that the one involved in the car accident come May 21 makes it through safely, and can continue to thrive.
