Chicago Med season 11 has featured a revolving door of guest appearances this season and it seems yet another familiar face is about to pass through Gaffney once again.
As we enter the home stretch of the season with just four episodes remaining in Chicago Med season 11, it’s clear the writers are racing towards the finish line and looking to bring resolution to some of the season’s ongoing storylines. In the process of tying up certain loose ends and beginning to weave in the threads that will carry through to the next season, fans can expect to see a few recurring characters popping back up.
Among those set to return before the season is over is Logan Miller, who will be reprising his role as Lenox’s younger brother Kip in episode 19, “Exit Strategies.”
The episode will see Lenox’s personal and professional lives blending together when Kip comes to Gaffney to make a major request of his sister. So what favor will Kip be seeking this time around? It seems that he’ll come to Lenox asking for her help with a co-worker who was injured on the job.
We last saw Kip back in episode 5, “What’s Hiding in the Dark,” which aired back in late October in what was his first appearance in season 11. Upon returning, we learned that Kip had begun to get his life back together since learning he did not test positive for Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker (GSS) syndrome. Not only was Kip doing far better than when he last passed through Chicago, but his arrival came with a major personal development.
In the episode, Kip showed up on Lenox’s doorstep, and she was immediately shocked to see her little brother donning a suit, which he informed her was for his current job. Learning that her brother had gotten a job that required him to wear a suit wasn’t the only surprising piece of news, though, as Kip’s visit was connected to another major personal development.
This wasn’t just Kip dropping in to visit his sister; rather, he came to see her to ask for their late mother’s ring, which he was hoping to use to propose to his girlfriend, Gemma. It was a plan he’d later choose to pump the brakes on when coming to see Lenox at the hospital to personally escort her to join him and Gemma for drinks. Knowing his sister would likely bail, Kip showed up to convince Lenox to come meet Gemma, and as they spoke, Lenox recognized the change in her brother, who for the first time was picturing a future with someone.
Given that Kip's new job had him wearing suits, we're going to be interested to see how his co-worker came to be injured on the job and why he sought out Lenox for help with the injury. After all, if it was a simple on-the-job injury, why would Kip be seeking Lenox's help directly? Hopefully, Kip hasn't backslid since his last appearance and become caught up in something shady.
We're also hoping the episode will provide us with an update on how his relationship is going with Gemma when Kip makes his return in episode 19. We'll also be eager to see if his return might also inspire Lenox to come clean to her brother. As fans know, Lenox has been lying to those around her about testing positive for GSS, including Kip.
Given that Kip will be passing through town once again, we hope that Lenox will take the opportunity to finally tell her brother the truth about her test results. After always being the strong sibling, it’d be nice to see Lenox give her brother the chance to step up and show up for her for a change.
We'll find out when Logan Miller makes his next appearance as Kip in episode 19, airing Wednesday, April 29, at 8/7c on NBC.
