For the last few years, there has been nothing One Chicago fans have wanted more than to see NBC once again stage a three-part crossover event between Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD. The show’s crossover events were always a favorite among fans, but it’s been a few years now since the casts of the three One Chicago shows have come together for a true crossover event featuring a storyline that flows across new episodes of the hit series.

Fans continue to long for the chance to see the casts come together for a true crossover event and it sounds like conversations could be underway about possibly pulling one off again this season!

“There are always talks…,” Chicago PD boss Gwen Sigan told TVLine when asked about the possibility of a crossover event happening this season. “It will just be about if it all aligns and works out. But yeah, hopefully.”

Okay, so this might not be a confirmation, but the fact that the creative teams are discussing a crossover and hoping to pull it off is a major step forward in a One Chicago crossover becoming a reality sometime during the 2024-2025 TV season. And we’re definitely well overdue for a crossover!

The last One Chicago crossover was in 2019

It’s been five, going on six years since the last One Chicago crossover event aired on NBC with the last Chicago Med, Chicago Fire, and Chicago PD crossover event coming in October 2019 with the “Infection” crossover event. During the three-part crossover, a bioterrorism attack rocked Chicago bringing the teams together to resolve the dangerous situation.

While there have been smaller crossovers in the shows since then, NBC has not been able to pull off a three-show crossover event in the years since for two primary reasons: the COVID-19 pandemic and the actors and writers strikes of 2023.

Following the 2019 crossover, the entertainment industry was rocked by the COVID-19 pandemic which shut down production of hit series across broadcast and cable for months. When production finally resumed, strict protocols made it difficult to pull off a crossover event for safety reasons. Then in 2023, the writers’ and actors’ strikes resulted in the delayed returns of the One Chicago shows which resulted in their shortest seasons yet.

With the industry finally in a better place, the hope is that a One Chicago crossover could finally happen during the 2024-25 season and we’d definitely love to see one finally happen.

Since the last crossover in 2019, there have been a lot of new cast additions to the three shows and there are many characters within the shared universe that we haven’t had the chance to interact on-screen. This could allow for some fun interactions that would surely get fans talking!
