Chicago PD cranked up the tension between Chief Deputy Reid (Shawn Hatosy) and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) in its latest episode. The conflict that started out as an unspoken thing has turned into a full on battle of wills between the veteran officers.

The episode "Greater Good" ended with Voight teaming up with Nina Chapman (Sara Bues) in an effort to bring Reid down. The thing is, things are going to get a lot worse before they get better. That's what Hatosy said when he teased what comes next in Chicago PD season 12.

Shawn Hatosy teases major season 12 conflicts

The actor told TV Insider that the conflict is going to take a "disastrous direction" with regard to the power play that Reid makes. "I think the fans will hate Reid for that, which I’m all for," the actor stated. "So it’s heading in a very disastrous direction for this friendship."

"Friendship" may be an unexpected word to read in relation to these two rivals, but they do have a lot in common. Jason Beghe has already spoken about the ways in which Reid is a mirror version of Hank Voight, and Reid even opened up about his traumatic past to Voight in the latest episode.

Ultimately, though, Hatosy believes that Reid and Voight are destined to clash, and one will be forced to take the other one out. It's a classic case of a town not being big enough for the both. In this case, it's a unit. "I don’t see how their relationship can go anywhere with Reid using this leverage or this friendship and the way that he has," the actor opined. "Hank is also very frustrated in Reid’s lack of transparency."

The thing that makes Reid such a threat to the IU, and to Voight's control over it, is his willingness to circumvent the veteran officer and make deals with other members. In "Greater Good," Reid connects with Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar), whom he has dirt on. "Because Voight isn’t operating the way that Reid needs to," he explains. "He goes around him, and he goes to Torres, and that is a line that Reid is willing to cross."

We have all the ingredients for a very messy finale, and frankly, we're here for it. Reid has posed the biggest threat against the IU that we've seen in years, and we are eager to see how Voight manages to come out on top. Assuming, of course, he does.
