Chicago PD star breaks silence on Burzek wedding (and we couldn't be more excited)

The procedural drama is going to end season 12 on a high note.

Chicago PD has not been hurting for storylines in season 12. There's been a lot going on for each of the IU members, but the one storyline that trumps the others in terms of importance and emotional impact is the pending wedding between Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger). And we finally have some information about it.

The procedural drama has really made a point of keeping the details of the wedding under wraps, to the point that the only confirmation we've gotten is through Squerciati's social media. It helped that the season 12 finale was titled "Vows," but even then, Chicago PD was the only One Chicago title to not be given a proper synopsis when finale information was released on May 5.

Toya Turner promises a "fun" wedding celebration

Thankfully, Toya Turner has stepped in to quell fan concerns. The actress, who plays Kiana Cook on Chicago PD, told TV Line that the Burzek wedding is going to deliver on everything fans could want. "There’s going to be a wedding, and it’s going to be a good time. That’s all I can say," she remarked, before dishing out more info. "I wish I could tell you more, like, about how [Burgess] looks, but she looks gorgeous."

Turner, who joined the Chicago PD cast this season, also noted that the Burzek wedding was a rare and welcome time for the IU members to come together for something positive. Generally, they are banding together to take down a heinous criminal or lament the loss of one of their own, but the finale is a rare moment of joy and celebration.

"It was fun to shoot that," the actress explained. "Not just as the last episode, but also, we shot that on the last day of the shooting schedule, and it was nice to all be together." We're thankful to hear that all the Chicago PD cast will be together in the season 12 finale for multiple reasons. One, as we said, is that it's harder to get a celebratory moment on PD than it is Fire or Med.

Chicago PD may slim down its season 13 cast

Two is that Chicago PD may be parting ways with certain cast members in season 13. Deadline noted that the show has been renewed by NBC, but the network's desire to cut down on costs will lead to an increased number of actors missing episodes and being written out of the franchise altogether. NBC is even urging main cast members to set up residence in Illinois, and suggesting that those who don't will lose out on even more screen time.

Don't get us wrong: we're thankful Chicago PD is coming back. But we're also curious as to whether the Burzek wedding, and the season 12 finale, will mark the end of an era. We will see.
