Chicago PD is not hurting for tense situations. The show does tension better than any of its One Chicago peers. Part of the reason is the severity of the crimes they have to contend with. We're talking about kidnappers, murderers, and most recently, crooked police chiefs.
Chief Deputy Reid (Shawn Hatosy) has increasingly become a thorn in the side of the IU, and the conflict between him and Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) will climax in the final two episodes of season 12. Beghe recently spoke with People Magazine about the finale, and why fans are going to be very happy with what they get.
How many episodes are in Chicago PD season 12?

There's been an unspoken element to the Reid and Voight conflict thus far. The niceties are still in play, given the chain of command and the fact that Reid is an upstanding officer on the surface. It will not stay that way, though, according to Beghe. The actor is excited for fans to see what the conflict looks like when the gloves are off.
"Shawn and I have been having a terrific time and, really, you ain't seen nothing yet," the actor told People. "Gwen [Sigan], our showrunner, is kind of amazing. We've got a couple [scenes] coming up that are in the can that you see where this thing is going." Beghe also promised that the intensity is going to be turned up to 11 when it comes to episodes 21 and 22.
"I think probably the last two [episodes] of the season are gonna be fairly intense," he explained. It makes sense, given how much build up Reid's character has been given. He's had a full season to simmer, and sort of plant his seeds within IU. In a separate interview with TV Insider, Beghe noted similarities between Voight and Reid. As much as Voight would hate to admit it.
Voight and Reid will face off in the finale

"We look similar. It’s almost like Voight’s looking in the mirror, and I find it interesting," Beghe noted. "That’s obviously metaphorical. But somebody is going down." The something remains unclear, but it's going to bring about an end to the season long conflict. Chicago PD has been known to extend conflicts out, so they spill over into other seasons.
This will not be the case with Reid. He will be dealt with, one way or another, by the end of season 12. Beghe also showed love to the fans during his People interview. He noted that the drive to tell great stories stems from the fact that we the viewers want to watch them.
"This is your show. It's for you," he asserted. "The bottom line is there's no point in telling a story unless there's somebody listening. So it's really about you, we're telling you the story, and it's an honor."
