Chicago PD stars Marina Squerciati and Patrick John Flueger staged an unexpected reunion over the holiday weekend!
During the Memorial Day weekend, Dream It Conventions hosted The First Responders Reunion 7 event in Orlando, which brought together the casts from some of the biggest first responder shows on the air, including Chicago PD, Grey’s Anatomy, Station 19, 911, 911: Lone Star, and The Rookie. Among the guests in attendance were Squerciati and Flueger, who happened to cross paths with another familiar face from the One Chicago franchise: Lisseth Chavez!
“Made some new friends plus spotted an OLD ONE!” Squerciati shared in dropping a series of photos from the convention, including a selfie with her former Chicago PD co-star who now stars on The Rookie.
The reunion quickly sparked excitement from fans who were thrilled to see the former co-stars back together.
“Seeing you and Patrick reunite with Lisseth is just amazing! We needed more seasons with Lisseth,” commented one supportive fan. “Yes!! It’s good to see you and Patrick reunited with Lissett,” echoed another.
Chavez joined the cast of Chicago PD in season 7, playing Officer Vanessa Rojas. Despite becoming a favorite among the fans, the writers opted not to bring the character back for season 8, and the show sadly never directly addressed her absence. Thankfully, Chavez quickly rebounded with a role in The CW's Legends of Tomorrow, starring in the final two seasons of the show.
After Legends of Tomorrow came to a close, Chavez joined the cast of The Rookie, which thankfully made her a bigger player in the show's ensemble than PD was able to. Chavez's character Celina Juarez has become a favorite among the fans and has been a key part of the show's cast since being introduced in season 5.
The mini Chicago PD reunion certainly got fans talking with many calling upon the TV gods to make a crossover between PD and The Rookie happen.
"Please give us Chicago PD and The Rookie crossover episode," begged one fan.
Of course, calls for a crossover between The Rookie and Chicago PD weren't the only ones happening in the comments of Squerciati's post! In addition to the group photo with her former and current Chicago PD co-stars, Squerciati also shared a series of snaps with The First Responders Reunion 7's other guests, which included 911 franchise stars Oliver Stark, Ronen Rubinstein, and Rafael Silva, as well as Grey's Anatomy stars Stefania Spampinato and James Pickens Jr.
Seeing the stars of so many beloved franchises together quickly managed to drum up crossover talk in the comments of the post with fans sharing their wishes to see some of the iconic first responder franchises crossover into an epic shared storyline.
Of course, as much as we'd love to see the One Chicago franchise crossover with characters from hits such as The Rookie, 911, and Grey's Anatomy, the odds aren't likely such crossovers would happen just from a business perspective given the shows air on competing networks and hail from different studios. Still, that doesn't mean we can't dream of one day seeing Burgess and Ruzek crossing paths with Celina or Evan Buckley!
