These two IU officers have red hot chemistry together.

Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar) did not have the easiest fall finale on Chicago PD. The character's past mistakes caught up with him, and his attempt to control the damage basically put the entire IU at risk. In the case of Kiana Cook (Toya Turner), Torres even put the lives of his peers at risk.

Fortunately, the character was able to escape and keep his life and job intact. The woman he had previously romanced died, but as we previously stated, that was an inevitable resolution. Torres is now single and hopefully on a more straight and narrow path.

Toya Turner sees the characters more as friends

Fans have noticed some notable chemistry between Torres and Cook, and the desire to see these two engage in something slightly more than professional has bled into interviews. The actors who plays Torres and Cook, respectively, have been asked about this possible storyline during several interviews, and their answers have been pretty succinct.

Toya Turner told TV Line that she definitely sees the vision, in terms of fans' wishes, but she is hesitant to put an explicitly romantic label on her character's dynamic with Torres:

" I read some of the stuff [online]. So I’ve been hearing that, and I don’t know if there’s something romantic there."

Turner, the most recent addition to the Chicago PD cast, noted that Torres and Cook might be better served as close friends and confidants than romantic partners. "I just think we have this connection," she posited. "I just think we get each other. It might be more of a kinship than something romantic."

Benjamin Levy Aguilar has a similar theory

Benjamin Levy Aguilar had a similar response when asked about a potential Torres and Cook romance. In his own TV Line interview, the actor made it clear that he doesn't really see there being a romantic bent to their relationship as season 12 progresses.

"Well, to be honest, I didn’t see it as a romantic thing," Aguilar admitted. "I just saw them as such good partners, one of those things that is so hard to come by." The characters have definitely gotten closer in light of the chaotic, Torres-related case involving Gloria Perez (Yara Martinez), so the jury is still out on whether something deeper and more intimate develops as the show goes on.

Still, there's something to be said about the fact that Aguilar and Turner are leaning more towards a friendship dynamic. We've seen plenty of partner romances over the years, so maybe this approach will be more novel.
