Could Chicago PD be pulling a fast one with the upcoming Burzek wedding?

The couple alluded to a pretty huge change of plans.

Chicago PD is the least sentimental of the One Chicago shows. It's grim, often straightforward, and prefers not to linger on the emotional turmoil of its characters as much as Chicago Med or Fire. It's a strength, generally, but it also means the moments that could be big and romantic are downplayed in favor of smaller, more intimate showcases.

Weddings are not a common occurrence on Chicago PD. In fact, the only time we a PD character get married in a big ceremony, it was Platt (Amy Morton), and it was during an episode of Chicago Fire. It's why there's so much riding on the upcoming ceremony between Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati) and Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger).

Fans suspect Burzek could elope

For the first time, broadly speaking, in the show's history, we will get a big wedding episode. That is, unless Burgess and Ruzek decide to scrap. "Seen and Unseen" was an episode that revolved around Burgess and her detection skills, but it ended with her and Ruzek deciding to go away and spent the weekend together, free of stress.

Upon hearing Burgess' idea to go away, Ruzek understandably questions whether she wants to elope. It's not something either officer had considered up to that point, and the show doesn't really go out of its way to deflect. So, could Chicago PD be pulling a fast one and depriving us of the big wedding we have been waiting all season to watch?

We know that One Chicago likes to recycle storylines that have worked in the past. We can only imagine that's why Chicago Fire decided to apply the same adoption story that worked for other Firehouse 51 couples to Stellaride. In the same vein, we've seen Chicago PD stalwarts Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer) and Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) decide to elope in a last minute decision.

Marina Squerciati has teased wedding dresses

We can't rule out the possibility that Burgess and Ruzek might do the same thing. We can, however, note that it will be unlikely for them to deprive fans of an onscreen wedding. The actress who plays Burgess, Marina Squerciati, has been a one woman promo team when it comes to the wedding, as evidenced by her Instagram.

She has not only alluded to the upcoming wedding, but she has even tried on different dresses and asked fans which was their favorite. Unless this is some god-tier trolling on her part, this rules out the concern that Burzek will bypass a big, IU-packed ceremony. We can't wait.
