Dick Wolf's new police drama On Call features a beloved Chicago Fire star
On Call is your new procedural obsession. The Prime Video drama delves into the lives of police officers working the beat in Long Beach, California. Dick Wolf is listed as an executive producer on the show, while Tim Walsh and Elliot Wolf are listed as creators.
On Call's combination of cell phone, dash cam, and body cam footage definitely sets it apart from the other procedural shows that Dick Wolf has been involved in. One that that was familiar to fans of Dick Wolf's beloved One Chicago franchise, though, was the face of a particular police officer.
Monica Raymund has returned to Dick Wolf procedurals
Eagle-eyed viewers may have noticed that the pilot episode features a brief appearance from former Chicago Fire star Monica Raymund. Yes, the same Raymund who delighted fans as Gabriela Dawson for the better part of a decade. The actress could be seen in uniform, though the extent of her role and involvement in the show has yet to be revealed.
TV Line has confirmed that Raymund is not a main cast member, but is listed as a guest star and will be appearing in future On Call episodes. The rest of the details surrounding Raymund's character are being left to the viewer to guess.
Monica Raymund was a main cast member on Chicago Fire for seasons 1-6, and then relegated to recurring in season 7-8. It's been a while since Dick Wolf fans have gotten to see her in action, but she has not slowed down one bit. If anything, she has been busier than ever as a director and producer.
Raymund has also directed FBI and Law & Order episodes
Raymund directed a 2018 episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. She's also directed a handful of episodes of FBI, dating back to 2020. Her most recent directorial effort came in season 6. She has proven her abilities as a director several times over, so it will be nice to see what she can do back in front of the camera in a Dick Wolf series.
Those keen on watching even more Monica Raymund material need to check out Hightown. The crime drama ran for three seasons on Starz, and gave the talented entertainer a chance to direct, produce and act. She also had a crucial supporting role in the courtroom drama The Caine Mutiny Court-Martial in 2023. It's no wonder Wolf Productions likes to keep her around, she can do it all!
