Chicago Med has been known for bringing in some amazing guest stars over the years and that list will be growing further in season 11, episode 4!

The fourth episode of the season, “Found Family,” introduced a very familiar face for those who love medical dramas. That’s because the show tapped actor Manish Dayal to guest star as Dr. Theo Rabari in the episode, marking his first official return to the medical drama world since his six-season run on Fox’s The Resident.

From 2018 through 2023, Dayal played Dr. Devon Pravesh on Fox’s medical drama set at Chastain Memorial Hospital. Over the course of the show, fans got to watch Devon’s journey from a resident into an attending by the show’s end. He was a standout character from the start and it was amazing getting to watch his evolution through the six seasons of the show.

After his run on The Resident, Dayal appeared in several episodes of the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, originating the role of Ash Patel. Ash was an airplane pilot and father whose path crossed with Carol as she searched for Daryl in the second season. Ash was last seen escaping in a plane heading for America, thus leaving the door open for him to return down the line in the franchise.

While The Resident and The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon are Dayal’s most notable roles, he’s appeared in a handful of other series and films over the years which you might recognize him from. Among his additional titles include Vijay Nadeer on Agents of SHIELD, Ryan Ryan on Halt and Catch Fire, Shashi Dhar in Fast & Furious Spy Racers, Faarooq in Netflix’s holiday rom-com Holidate, and Kevin Stephanides in Rise.

On Chicago Med, we learn that Dr. Rabari works in psychiatry and is currently researching a new form of technology that can help with treatment of patients. At first, Dr. Charles isn't sure of his method, worrying that it'll result in the loss off the personal connection between doctors and their patients; however, Charles comes to see over the course of the episode that the research could indeed be a helpful tool in treating patients.

It's unclear whether Dr. Theo Rabari will appear in simply one episode of Chicago Med, or if we might see more of the character as the season progresses. As the episode ends, he invites Dr. Rabari to continue his research at Med, it seems likely we're going to get to see more of the character in season 11; however, it's unclear how many episodes Dayal will appear in across season 11.

Regardless of whether this is a one-off guest spot or something that could develop into a bigger role, it's great seeing Dayal back on the screen and we'd happily welcome more of his character on the show!

Don't miss new episodes of Chicago Med, Wednesdays at 8/7c on NBC!
