911 fans finally have something to look forward to! Just as the series has gone into production for season 9, we got word on when to expect new episodes. However, it’s going to be a longer wait than normal for the ABC series.
Instead of a regular September air date, the series will return in October, meaning we will have to wait a few more weeks to see our favorite firefighters. However, with the series now back in production, we will likely get some fun teasers as we wait to see what happens next for the 118.
Going into season 9, 911 will see some changes in the cast. Peter Krause, who played Captain Bobby Nash, exited the series at the end of season 8. Bobby died after a lab explosion left him exposed to Crimean Congo Hemorrhagic Fever. It will be strange for fans to watch the show without Bobby after eight seasons.
Other stars of the series include Angela Bassett, Oliver Stark, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Kenneth Choi, Aisha Hinds, and Ryan Guzman. There have not been any more cast changes, but we’re looking forward to seeing some previous guest stars who are important to the characters.
So far, we have seen that Anirudh Pisharody will continue to be part of the team, thanks to social media stories he has posted. Fans are also hoping to see more of Lou Ferrigno Jr. as Tommy Kinard, and as always, we love it when Tracie Thoms graces our screens as Karen Wilson. Even though Gavin McHugh was mostly absent in season 8 as Christopher Diaz, we hope to see more of him in season 9.
When 911 returns to ABC on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 8/7c, the 118 will continue to fight fires as they also grieve the loss of their captain. An arc we are expecting to see if whether Chimney Han will take on the mantle as captain, or if Hen Wilson will change her mind and take on the role. She had said at the end of season 8 that she decided not to be captain, but there’s always a chance things could change.
Plus, would Chimney want to be captain now that his wife, Maddie, welcomed their second child into the world? There’s plenty of story we expect, and hope, to see for all of the characters.
We do not know much about what is coming down the pipeline for season 9 of 911. We will keep you updated as we learn more about the upcoming season.
