FBI’s season 7 finale left us on a stunning cliffhanger following an attack on an FBI field office that saw Jubal injured and the team not knowing who to trust.

Jubal was at the Threat Intake Office speaking with a man named Kevin, who was blowing the whistle on FBI agents being recruited into an organization launching an attack. At first, they didn’t believe this was happening until two people posing as FBI agents began shooting up the office.

Jubal barely managed to escape, only to get caught by one of the agents in a convenience store. When she lifted her arms, he saw a telltale tattoo that signaled an organization they had previously fought against. They learned the people involved are actual agents who were recruited into Forefront, who had originally infiltrated the Marshals.

Maggie and OA looked through the informant’s apartment, only to learn from a neighbor that he had randomly asked her to store his home brew at her place. They looked at the canisters and discovered a hidden thumb drive under one of the caps.

The drive contained specs for government phones that had been rigged for explosives. They were originally intended to be used in an op between the CIA and NSA, and were then supposed to be sent back to the Pentagon. They were instead sent to FBI offices where multiple agents now had those phones in their possession.

Jubal had everyone in his office get rid of their phones, but then they heard a bunch of explosives just as Isobel went to update one of their bosses. Before she could finish questioning him on when he got his phone, it exploded in his hand.

While everyone believed Isobel died in the explosion, she actually played dead until it was safe to get out of the FBI building. The JOC was relieved of its duties and Maggie, OA, Stuart, and Dani met them in an underground building to reconvene with Jubal and an injured Isobel.

Maggie had heard DAD Director Keane talking about tying up loose ends and knew immediately he was in charge of Forefront. They worked together and discovered that the agents who died in the explosions had all been working against Chinese organizations when they were killed.

Isobel managed to make Keane believe she wanted to work with him by providing the location of where Jubal and the rest of the JOC were located. Maggie and the rest of the agents fought off Forefront, were able to stop the group, and arrested Keane for working with China to take control of the FBI.

However, despite everything seemingly going well at the end, Isobel suddenly collapsed as she was speaking to the JOC. The season ended without us knowing if she was alive or dead, as Jubal was unable to get a pulse.

In an interview with TV Insider, Alana De La Garza would not admit whether Isobel lived or died. But actor Jeremy Sisto, who plays Jubal, said losing Isobel “would be a real shame to break something that’s working so well” in terms of all of the cast working so well together onscreen. It would definitely shake things up on screen, but we also hope she does survive, especially since she had just gotten married.

It looks like we will have to wait for season 8 to find out for sure if Isobel survives her internal injuries. Until then, we have a long summer ahead of us.
