FBI’s two-hour fall finale focused on a group attempting to reset the clocks and damaging the city’s infrastructure as someone close to an agent got caught in the crossfire. What happened to Jubal’s son, Tyler, during this harrowing case?
At first, the case for the team looked like a simple case of someone killing sex workers. However, the evidence would lead them to something bigger once they learned who was involved. Plus, all of them had been involved in robberies, where they targeted men who worked in areas of infrastructure. They would spike their drinks and then steal work related items, such as a key card and a laptop containing plans involving projects.
Their suspect, Warren, had recently been divorced and his wife mentioned he seemed to be involved with an extremist group that was planning something big. However, during the investigation, they learned she was also part of the group when they saw her driving a truck to leave a bomb near a subway station.
In the midst of all of this, Jubal’s son, Tyler, was with his girlfriend in the city. Due to the danger of the case, Jubal tried to get his son to head home. However, before he could leave for safety, Tyler heard gunshots and saw men running into a building with a suitcase.

The team looks for the leader of an accelerationist group as Jubal goes rogue
Tyler called his dad with the information before using his phone to record the men engaged in a shootout before spotting someone escaping in a van. This actually ended up helping the team learn who the leader of their group was.
Before Tyler could walk away, the building he was in front of exploded and he became gravely injured. The explosion took out surveillance, cameras, and other forms of electrical communication. Jubal rushed to the area where his son was, finding him unconscious and bleeding.
Jubal went with his son to the hospital, where he and his wife learned Tyler could have a brain injury. Distraught at what happened to their son, Jubal was determined to find the people involved.
The main suspect was a man named Baker McCaffrey, whose brother had once led an accelerationist group before being killed. Baker wanted to take things further and was targeting the underground tunnels in an attempt to prevent people from fleeing to safety.
One of the men involved in a shooting at a train station had been injured when Maggie shot him. Jubal learned where the man was headed and despite orders from Isobel to stay with his family, he went to find him. The man was getting treated at a plastic surgeon’s office and had the doctor at gunpoint.
While Jubal took over, it was obvious he was bent on revenge for his son. He came close to torturing the man for information before Maggie and OA found him. Despite going rogue, Jubal did find out some information on the steps Baker was taking. It looked like his plan was to bomb one of the tunnels and cause a flood to the city.
In actuality, he was planning on gassing everyone with cyanide. As the team tried to get people to safety, Jubal went after Baker. He managed to don one of the gas masks the group had in the fight, and he eventually managed to turn off the canisters emitting the poison. Even though Jubal had his chance to escape, he went back for Baker.
This showed that even though Jubal nearly lost himself to grief, he still was not the kind of person to leave someone to suffer. He got Baker out of there to save his life and make sure he saw justice for the harm his group caused.
Luckily, Tyler survived the episode, and we’ll have to see if he decides to follow in his hero dad’s footsteps. He saved the day, but this kind of trauma could still have an impact on how he moves forward in the future.
FBI will return to CBS on Monday, February 24, 2026. In the meantime, you can catch up on Season 8 on Paramount+.
