Chicago PD season 13 has only aired one new episode in February 2026, so you probably wouldn't think this would be a particularly big month for NBC's long-running police procedural, but you'd be wrong. Most fans probably didn't even realize the show celebrates a massive milestone in February.

While Chicago PD doesn't return with new episodes until March, NBC is unexpectedly bringing the series back to the air for a repeat episode on the last Wednesday in February. But that's not why it's a big month for the series. If you have been a fan since the beginning, or even for the past few seasons, then you know that Chicago PD hit its 200th episode milestone three years ago.

On Feb. 22, 2023, Chicago PD season 10 episode 14, which is titled "Trapped," rang in the show's biggest episode milestone to date. That's an anniversary worth celebrating each year! Until the show reaches 300 episodes, at least. It's rare for television shows, especially modern television shows, to achieve 100 episodes much less 200. And Chicago PD's already on track to reach 300.

Back when the 200th episode first aired, it was definitely a bittersweet one. Earlier in Chicago PD season 10, original series star Jesse Lee Soffer, who played the fan-favorite character Jay Halstead, officially left the series. Soffer exited PD after only three episodes of season 10, meaning he just missed celebrating 200 episodes with his castmates.

Thankfully, some 50 odd episodes later, Soffer will reprise his role as Halstead in the One Chicago crossover even airing on March 4. The crossover event reunites Halstead with his former flame Upton, as Tracy Spiridakos also marks her return to the series since leaving after season 11. That's another reason February is a big month for Chicago PD: The countdown is on to their returns!

Chicago PD's 200th episode proved to be not only a milestone for the series but a major showing for Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), who became trapped underground in a subway train with Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger) and worked through the trauma of having a panic attack while stuck with a little boy in a hole. Even while investigating hard-hitting cases, PD still manages to do incredible character development work with its brilliant main cast members.

Obviously, season 13 found the series hitting another episode count milestone, with the seventh episode of the season marking 250 episodes. If you think 200 episodes is rare, 250 episodes just might be even harder to reach these days. Now on the path to 300 episodes, Chicago PD shows no signs of slowing down, nor do Chicago Fire or Chicago Med.

There are lots of popular franchises on television, but how many current television franchises can say that all three of its shows have surpassed 200 episodes? Chicago Fire was the first to climb this peak in October 2021, and Chicago Med was the latest in October 2025. But this month, it's time to roll out the red carpet for Chicago PD and give the series a round of applause for its amazing achievement.
