Since returning from its longer winter break, Fire Country season 3 has been airing with little interruption on CBS which has been a really nice change of pace. Since its winter premiere on Jan. 31, fans have gotten to enjoy seven weeks of uninterrupted new episodes but, sadly, that streak is coming to an end.

Following the show’s March 14 episode, Fire Country is going to be taking its second notable break in the season with a multi-week hiatus ahead for the show. So what gives?

Well, March is nearing its end and March Madness is about to heat up with the annual NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship. CBS will once again be the broadcast home to several games in the series including primetime coverage of the championship which is going to result in Fire Country being bumped from the schedule as CBS turns over its Friday night primetime block to coverage of the tournament

For the final two weeks of the month, CBS will be airing special NCAA Men’s Basketball Championship Coverage at the special time of 7 p.m. to 12 a.m. ET on both Thursday and Friday nights. This is resulting in CBS’s normal primetime originals being preempted for the remainder of the month with no new episodes of Georgie & Mandy's First Marriage, Ghosts, Matlock, Elsbeth, NCIS: Sydney, Fire Country, and SWATcoming until April.

After taking the last two weeks of March off due to CBS’s March Madness coverage, Fire Country will return with a new episode on April 4, bringing the break to an end. Details about the next episode have yet to be revealed and we’re not expecting a promo to clue us in on the next episode as CBS opted not to air promos for its Thursday night shows following their last new episodes before the break.

Upon returning in April, we’ll be entering the home stretch of the season with just a few weeks worth of episodes left in the pipeline leading up to the show’s season finale in May. What is going to be interesting is to see how CBS is going to choose to roll out the remaining episodes of the season, but we do anticipate we’ll have at least one more break ahead as CBS looks to stretch out the remaining episodes of season 3 through the upcoming weeks. Typically, CBS shows take a week or two off in April so there is a good chance this might be the case again this season.

The good news is that Fire Country fans can stream past episodes on Paramount+ in the meantime as they wait for the show to return. It’s also a great time to catch up on the season if you by chance fell behind on season 3 or simply to enjoy encores of the more recent episodes as you wait for Fire Country to return on April 4.
