Fire Country has had one of the fastest franchises expansions in recent memory. The show has introduced tons of characters in its three seasons, and pushed its protagonists in unexpected and exciting directions. Unfortunately, one of these characters is set to walk away in the season finale, set for April 25.
Jake Crawford (Jordan Calloway) has been eyeing the door for a good chunk of season 3. The Station 42 Captain was suspended for disobeying orders to evacuate a mountain fire in the episode "Fire and Ice," and the character subsequently voiced a desire to become a Battalion Chief. The episode ended with Crawford calling a Battalion Chief and asking when he knew it was time to leave his previous gig with Station 42. In the episode "Eyes and Ears Everywhere," Crawford made a toast to his "two weeks notice," all but confirming his master plan.
Jake Crawford is set to depart Fire Country

All the seeds have been planted for Crawford's exit, and TV Line doubled down on the character's exit during a recent spoiler post. "It sure feels like Jake is leaving," the outlet noted. "There’s a small party and everything." TV Line did add, however, that there is lots of unexpected developments in part two of the season 3 finale, which includes a "questionable" firefighting decision. Crawford could possibly stick around, though the show would effectively be undoing his season-long arc.
It will be sad to watch a character as important as Crawford leave, but there's still hope that we could see him in the future. We are, after all, on the precipice of a massive expansion in the Fire Country TV universe. The franchise is adding Sheriff Country to the mix during the 2025-26 season, and then the plan is to add another spinoff, Fire Country: Surfside.
Crawford would be an asset to Fire Country spinoffs

Sheriff Country will, true to its title, be focused on law enforcement, but Fire Country: Surfside is meant to follow another group of firefighters in California. Camden Casey (Jared Padalecki), the intended protagonist of Surfside, has already been introduced in Fire Country, so it would not be absurd to assume that Crawford connected with him in the hopes of claiming a promotion.
Crawford is an asset to the franchise, and taking characters from flagship shows to help bolster a spinoff is commonplace in the network space. We will miss Crawford's dynamics with the rest of the OG Fire Country team, but we hope, at the very least, that his potential season 3 exit does not mean the end of his overall story.
