Chicago Fire is not hurting for characters at the moment. The firefighting drama has done an excellent job of incorporating newcomers and giving them interesting storylines alongside the veteran players. That said, there's one character we haven't gotten a resolution for.
Wendy Seager was a notable Chicago Fire fixture for a couple of seasons, and yet, the character has been missing in action since season 11. Her presence within the show was polarizing, given that she had a flirtatious dynamic with Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney), but there continues to speculation about her fate and whether she will return.
Seager hasn't been on Fire since season 11
Well, we finally have an update. Andy Allo, the actress who plays Seager, discussed the show during a recent interview with Screen Rant. She confirmed she adored her time on Chicago Fire, and would be interested in reprising her character in the future.
"Oh my gosh, I love that show," Allo asserted. "I loved playing an investigator." The actress explained that Seager is one of her favorite characters because she differs so radically from the other roles she has gotten to play over the years. Most importantly, though, Allo confirmed that she wants to return as Seager whenever the Chicago Fire writers find a way to fit her back in.
"It's a different role than I've ever played in anything, so I'm ready," the actress added. "You can call me, guys. I'm available now." It would be fun to see Seager back, and Allo's performance has gotten better as the show has gone on. Given her dynamic with Severide, though, we can see why Seager has been put on the backburner for the last two seasons.
Seager and Severide cases are always entertaining
Seager and Severide grew close when Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) was traveling, and Severide was feeling lonely. There was some romantic chemistry between him and Seager, even though he never acted upon it. Seager hasn't gotten a chance to complicated the Stellaride marriage because they have complicated it plenty on their own.
Severide's desire to pursue and conduct arson investigation in different states, Kidd's reluctance to start a family after Severide voiced a desire to have kids. There's a lot going on that they are going to have to figure out in season 13 and beyond. That said, we could definitely see a world where Seager comes back and provides a counterbalance to Severide during an arson investigation. We hope it happens sooner rather than later.
