Amazon Prime Video’s latest book-to-series adaptation has just given One Chicago fans a reason to add the series to their watchlists!

Chicago Med alum Brian Tee has joined the cast of Prime Video’s new series The Probability of Miracles, based on the novel of the same name from author Wendy Wunder. Tee joins the cast in a recurring role alongside Melissa Collazo, Henry Eikenberry, Ginnifer Goodwin, Michaela Watkins, Georgia Acken, and Ema Inês.

Tee will be playing Izzie, a soft-spoken head chef known for being both grounded and passionate. His character will be romantically involved with Goodwin’s character Alicia, who is at the center of the series as a single mom who relocates her family to the town of Promise.

At the heart of the story is Alicia’s daughter Campbell Cooper (Collazo), a teen battling terminal cancer, who isn’t sold on the small town of Promise’s legacy for being a place where miracles happen and doesn’t believe in miracles. However, as she spends summer in the mystical town, she comes to find that miracles might be possible after all.

With Tee set to play Alicia’s boyfriend in the show, it seems safe to assume that he’ll have a sizable role in the series, one that could expand should a second season be ordered.

Probability of Miracles marks the third Prime Video series Tee has appeared in since exiting Chicago Med. In fact, his role in the Prime Video miniseries Expats was Tee’s first role following his departure from Chicago Med after eight seasons playing Dr. Ethan Choi. He’d then reteam with Prime Video with a key role in the third season of Reacher.

Probability of Miracles shouldn't make it impossible for Chicago Med to bring Brian Tee back

We’re thrilled to see Brian Tee taking on a new role and have him back on our screens via Prime Video’s Probability of Miracles, but his casting in the show might make it tricky for the Chicago Med team to find a way to bring him back for a cameo in season 12.

Since taking over as showrunner, Allen MacDonald has worked hard to honor the legacy of the show and find fun ways to bring back characters who have exited the show. In his two seasons at the helm, he managed to bring back several notable alums, including Rachel DiPillo as Dr. Sarah Reese, Nick Gehlfuss as Dr. Will Halstead, and Torrey DeVitto as Dr. Natalie Manning.

He’s been adamant on hoping to bring back additional characters from the show’s earlier seasons, with Tee and his frequent scene partner Yaya DaCosta ranking at the top of fans’ wishlists. Ethan and April were a core part of the show’s early seasons, and their love story is one of the best we’ve seen in the show’s run and, honestly, in the entire One Chicago franchise.

Ethan and April were lucky enough to get a happy ending when exiting the show, which helped to ease the pain of losing the duo; however, it left fans wanting more. After seeing Natalie and Will return in season 11 in a manner that allowed the fans to catch up with the pair and get a peek into their lives since leaving Chicago, there has been hope Ethan and April might be next on the list to return.

Tee’s new role could make it a bit more tricky to pull off a return, but it’s certainly still on the table. Probability of Miracles is currently filming, which means it will likely overlap with production of the early episodes of Chicago Med season 12. That said, filming on Probability of Miracles should be complete well before Chicago Med wraps filming on its season, which means we could see Tee potentially return via a guest arc, just likely not in the beginning of the season.

We’d love to see Ethan and April back at Gaffney, and if there is anyone capable of pulling it off, it’s Allen MacDonald!
