FBI: International has been going through pretty significant changes in recent years. The show added Chicago PD alum Jesse Lee Soffer to its cast, and now, its adding Station 19 alum Jay Hayden. These two men are close friends, and Hayden will be joining International on December 10 as an "intelligent and charismatic" agent.

The details surrounding Hayden's character were initially kept under wraps, but the actor opened up about what fans should expect from his agent during a recent interview with Deadline. It sounds like it will be an opportunity to spice up the show, as well as take advantage of Hayden and Soffer's real life bond.

Hayden is eager to work with Jesse Lee Soffer

The Other Hard Part
“The Other Hard Part” – When a U.S. ambassador is taken hostage at a TV station in the Netherlands alongside 70 civilians, the Fly Team is forced to work quickly to find out who they’re up against. Meanwhile, Wes works to earn the respect of his new team, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, Oct. 22 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day /

Hayden told the outlet that he's eager to work alongside Soffer for the very first time. These two rose to fame on other procedural dramas, but Hayden noted that their offscreen chemistry played a huge part in informing the relationship between their respective characters.

"We process and think about things differently," Hayden said about Soffer. "We have different points of view on a lot of things. [Similarly,] we play two guys who don’t always have the same point of view... It was like a perfect melding of who we are personally into these characters."

Jay Hayden also revealed that his character, Tyler Booth, is supposed to be kind of a jerk. The actor spent seven seasons playing a charming firefighter on Station 19, and admitted there were several instances in which he had to tone the charm down.

"They would be like, 'Cut! Jay, that’s too funny,'" Hayden recalled. "'We can’t be laughing out loud. Also, your character’s supposed to be kind of a jerk. You’re not charming.' And I was like, 'Right, yes, okay.'" He eventually got the hang of it, though, and came to enjoy the tonal difference between Station 19 and the grittier, more tense FBI: International.

The details surrounding Booth's International case were kept under wraps for the most part, but the actor did admit that his character's daughter will be involved. This plot point struck a chord with the actor, who has a teenage daughter of his own.

Hayden told Deadline that the concept of having one's daughter in jeopardy was a daunting one, but one that allowed him to quickly get into character's psyche. "As soon as Ed brings Tyler's daughter into it," the actor explained. "And he feels like she's unsafe, the gloves come completely off."

We're eager to see how Tyler Booth shakes things up within the show.
