At the end of the previous episode, we learned John Doe would get into the clinical trial for the brain chip. The surgery happens in Brilliant Minds season 1, episode 7.

Dr. Gadson certainly didn’t want to put John Doe on his clinical trial. That wasn’t because of John Doe, though. It was because of Dr. Wolf. Gadson knows who Wolf is and what the man can do. In fact, Gadson made it clear that the patient would only be allowed in the trial if Wolf followed every single rule.

So, does that mean Wolf is going to do something wrong that prevents John Doe from getting the chip? It doesn’t look like it, but that doesn’t mean the chip will be a success.

John Doe is called Roman in Brilliant Minds season 1, episode 7

The promo gives John Doe a name, finally. We learn that he’s called Roman. We know that the hospital was getting a translator in, so it makes sense that they would finally get a name. Roman was able to communicate by Van pointing to the European language.

We can guess from the title that Roman is Chechen. Now we need to know why he’s in America and whether he was here alone. This would suggest that the chip has to work, though, right? How else do we get to know more about him without finding out the chip works?

However, it looks like it may not fully work. The promo has Pierce telling Wolf that not everyone can be saved. It’s a hard part of being a doctor. Wolf, especially, wants to help everyone. He struggles with loss, but he also knows that sometimes it’s inevitable. The problem for Wolf is that he gets so connected to his patients because of the way he sees them.

Check out the promo and synopsis for Brilliant Minds season 1, episode 7 to get an idea of what to expect in the episode:

"Dr. Wolf and the team perform their most experimental treatment yet: a brain-computer interface implantation in their John Doe patient's brain."

Brilliant Minds airs Mondays at 10/9c on NBC. Catch up the following day on Peacock.
