Just when FBI fans thought we were in the clear when it came to cast shakeups, we’re seeing yet another new face who will be added to the cast. While we still don’t know whether Alana de la Garza’s character, Isobel, will survive her collapse from the season 7 finale, someone new is joining as another character.
TVLine reports that Emily Alabi, who joined season 7 as Stuart Scola’s (John Boyd) new partner, will be returning to the series, but only for an exit arc. At first, it did appear that she would be a good fit for the team, but now it seems the show is gearing up to try out yet another partner to join the team.
Actress Juliana Aidén Martinez, who had appeared on Law and Order: SVU, will now move on to FBI as a series regular for season 7. This will be the show’s fourth attempt at bringing a new face on board for the series as they seek to find a fourth member to fill the void left by Katherine Renee Kane’s Agent Tiffany Wallace.
It has not been confirmed that she will be Scola’s new partner. No character details have been given and with the events of the season 7 finale, Martinez could be brought in for multiple reasons. With Alabi now moving on, this is likely who she will come in to replace. However, for all we know, she could be replacing Isobel if she does not survive the injuries sustained in the season 7 finale.
Deadline listed de la Garza as a returning cast member, so most likely Isobel will be back. There has been no official confirmation on whether de la Garza is actually leaving the series. We’re sure to find out when season 8 premieres.
Also starring on the series are Jeremy Sisto, Missy Peregrym, and Zeeko Zaki. We’ll also be looking out to see if Shantel VanSanten will return to her role as Nina Chase with the cancellation of FBI: Most Wanted.
At any rate, with so many changes occurring on FBI before the show’s return on Monday, Oct. 13, fans will be in for a wild ride. The change in air date is also going to be different, with FBI switching to Mondays while the NCIS franchise airs together on Tuesdays.
